it is only cvt gears like those in Toyota Belta and Honda City which are too fast for an inferior fuel like cng so don't work well. in case of Corollas, Civics and the like, cars run perfect. mileage is less of course but no problem.

I'd repeat vot wheelspk said; it was as far as fifteen twenty years ago that auto tranny didn't work much in Pakistan since the mechanics were never trained enough. now most of the Civcs (2004 onwards) and S.E Saloons (2002 onwards) and Altis (2006 onwards) are purchased with automatic transmission. many technicians have upgraded themselves.

auto cars are getting popular day by day, its just that their maintenance is expensive if anyone faces a problem like you are facing.. get it fixed from a true pro and you will be happy. most roadside mechanics discourage the auto tranny just because they are not skilled enough to troubleshoot

autos are for comfort and peace of mind. if your car is underpowered (small engine or running CNG) it will not perform well.

Generally speaking most mechanics will tell you that autos are "fail" in pakistan because they are too stupid to know how to work on them. 90% of the mechanics in PK don't even know how an auto works.

as for your economy and performance issues, manuals have more and shorter ratios generally so they accelerate faster (engine kept in power band) and they can attain a higher gear easier.
    1. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, 2. Resale wont save your life in an accident, 3. Genius has limits, stupidity has none, 4. Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level & beat you with experience, 5. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young! 6. انّا للہ و انّا الیہ راجعون
