    Default Chor company: Pak Suzuki

I had my first experience of buying a car last year.

After saving my hard earned income for years, I managed to save enough to buy a Suzuki Mehran for 4,60,000 rupees.

But it wasn't that easy to get that car even for that price.

Before buying the car, I went out to some dealers and confirmed the price of car and mode of payment. The price was confirmed at 4,58,000 for a 2009 model car.
But before making a Pay Order, I called two of the dealers just to confirm if the price is still at 4,58,000. Then I got a Pay Order prepared.

But to my horror, next day I went to the dealer to buy the car I found out the car prices had increased considerably. How much they had increased? it was not know, even to dealers.

They refused to provide me a new car for 4,58,000 which was still the listed price. Infuriated, I asked the dealer the reason for increase in prices, they told me there is no specific reason. Its just the will of the company, they have gotten imported cars banned so now its up to them to do whatever they want. I overheard one of them saying they will reduce the prices after they earn a billion or two from this black-marketing.

Then the dealer gave me an option of an unsold 2008 model Mehran for 4,60,000 rupees.

I had already sold my previous car and I had no option but to buy that old unsold car.

But my real horror started after I bought the car, it was full of faults.
Speedometer was not working, half of the lights were not working. There were too many cracking noises. The car would slightly move ahead in the neutral gear. The gear was so hard, I needed to try three or four times to get it into first gear.

When I went to the dealers workshop, the dealer informed me since it is a 2008 model car, its initial 1000 kilometer warranty had expired!

And then he told me even if I had that initial warranty, mechanical problems were not covered in that warranty!

For the faulty gear problem, the dealer explained it as a "New technology" being used in gears!

I really wish this chor company could be banned from Pakistan, we are better off with imported cars. I don't care how many jobs they create, I don't see the need to feed those worthless souls with my hard earned money in a fraudulent way.

Now one year has passed and I have to pay regular visits to workshops for all kinds of problems from door switch (I got it replaced 3 times) to faulty clutch.

The biggest irony is that the dealers themselves keep two qualities of each part, one is what they call genuine and the other one is DESI. There is a 100% price difference between these two qualities and they blackmail customers by saying there is no guarantee the DESI part will work but the genuine part will definitely work.
The same parts can be bought from workshops at 50% less price.

Even an oil change from Suzuki dealers costs a lot higher from what it costs at petrol pumps.

I would say this company is like a daylight robber in Pakistan and it should be boycotted whenever possible.

    Well

    Two things

First ... you shouldnt have bought the old car. Checked it thoroughly before buying.

Second ... its the dealer fault not company. You should have goen to others ... or waited ... or bought a slightly used car from market.

No name of new technology, just a "new technology of gears being used in new Mehrans".

Maybe you haven't bought a Suzuki before.

They had removed batteries of cars, they were plugged in only after they were bought. What can you check in a car with an un-plugged battery?

I had no choice but to buy an old car, the price of new (2009) car was much higher and the dealer told me you won't get those unsold old cars by next day.

BTW. If a 3 month old 2008 model unused car had so many faults, what is the guarantee that the new 2009 model unused car did not have those faults? (there was a difference of only 2 months between date of manufacture of 2008 and 2009 model.)
Practically, the difference in model was only on paper.

Feel sad for you bro, if it has so many faults i would suggest try selling it in minimum loss and buy a one year used Mehran ...

Beside all, when I read/hear such kind of incidence it leaves me amazed as we people ourself has created the hype of a company having poor quality production (in fact no Quality check)

Why dont u get a japenese imported used car for the same price or maybe spend a little more ? I have first hand experience with this issue. After my uncle bought a brand new mehran for roughly the same price and roughly the same time i bought my 30k driven 2002 model vitz, we both compared them for over a year. Believe it or not, by the time we both had sold them off, he was infact atleast 100K over what i had spent on my vitz. And still the piece of garbage mehran was never even close to anything on a stock vitz starting from brakes(even though he had change the tires and alot of stuff to make it reasonable),safety, performance and drive.
He disposed of the garbage desperately and faced a minor loss, anyway money comes and goes but should learn from our mistakes, thats why i convinced him to buy a japenese corolla 2001 model and he is loving it. The AC is a killer, the mileage is as good as XLI, the ride is even better then our latest paki made honda civic or toyota corolla Altis. My father owns both of them. And have had first hand experience with all these cars.

I really feel sorry for you and I can see your frustration reflecting in your post..

that said, when you decided to buy the car, it was you who fed the monster (the trio of cartel mafia) yet again, providing it fuel to further rort the system..
so on individual basis, you're also to blame for the local industry's riding the nation.. could you not have instead gone for a used car? yes, it might have had the same problems (but odds are, it would have been far better), yes it wouldn't have been new (as if the local so called brand new junk is any good), BUT in doing so, the dealer would have sold one less car and the unscrupulous industry would have had posted profit for one less unit..!

    and as for this:

Practically, the difference in model was only on paper.
My friend, this even rings true for the very first model of mehran (the then alto) that was rolled out of the PakSuzuki assembly line back in 1988-89 and the ones that are produced in 2010 - more than two decades later..!
What have you been grateful for today..?

Default Substandard quality of Suzuki cars

Write a detailed letter to Suzuki CEO and CC it to Suzuki Dealer who gave you this scrap and claim compensation of 10,00,000/- otherwise go to Consumer Court. They will help u out. Suzuki will fix everything in your car free of cost despite expiry of warranty. I also did the same when I bought my new Suzuki Mehran in 2007.

On the brighter side, you see you can always sell the car for the same price you bought it, that's the best part about Mehran.

Sell it out, 500k is a handsome amount..you have a sea of open options to choose from as your next car.

if i were you, i would never have 'wasted' my money in buying a mehran even if it was a brand new zero meter car.. there are much better used options for 4.6 lac available in the market which are a million times better than a new mehran. i feel sorry for you but perhaps that was the only way your eyes would have opened! and its all b.s about some new technology in gears, we need two more legs to apply brakes in a mehran properly, is that a new technology too?

For the faulty gear problem, the dealer explained it as a "New technology" being used in gears!
PakSuzuki have yet another very "ground breaking technology" up their sleeve, which they are planning to offer in their upcoming vehicles..

Let me introduce to you the all new MY12 Mehran with that "new' technology..

What have you been grateful for today..?

Sorry to hear that. Just dispose it off (you will still get 80 to 90% of its price back).Do a little saving, and get a used japanese Alto.

Due to these types of incidents I dont let go off this 28 year old Suzuki which is more reliable and trust worthy than a Zero meter Mehran.I am saving money to get a used Japanese car in near future (Inshallah).
