I drove even more of a fabled horse in Karachi - a diesel VW Golf, for the average mechanic that you have, the timing belt alignment is more than a nightmare as there are no marks on the pulleys, you need to make a locking tool for the camshaft - as the pulley has no woodruff key and is smoothly tapered.
if mistimed it will be a ***** to start - more noisy than anything on the road.. But when its pieced together nicely MAN you will love this car to bits. It torques and revs more angrily than a petrol powered modern car.
Same thing with the UNO - fixing the engine requires some specialist tools and locks to be made, if not you will end up in tears, because its the intricate adjustments that will make it start with a tiny battery and little glow time having very low rattling at idle to having a UPS battery in the bay with half a minute glow time and the sound of a massey tractor.
They are very very good cars if they are taken care PROPERLY - not your average runabout mechanics job I guarantee - simply, get the workshop manual, get the camlock and pump lock tool, genuine sealants and degreasers and a mechanic that will follow instructions as told.
For the love of God do not spray diesel fuel onto the engine, it will eat up the hoses and electric wiring insulation.. leading you straight to pandoras nice little box
