Hmm if ur earning 31k than i will suggest go for any corolla model that is cheaper to maintain and run. Galant no doubt is an amazing car and much better than rola but not a easy car to maintain in pakistan.

Look for other options as well, like honda city or civic.

I hate this term but in ur case you should look for a market car.
Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go.

    Sir

I will also recommend the same, you can also look for a CF3 Accord, which is better then even current Corolla's and Civic.

Will cost you around 900K for a good one.

    Sir

I recommend a low mileage 2002-03 SE Saloon AUTO or XLI, after you are familiarize with monthly expense/parts/resale then you can go for the car of your choice.

Get a Honda City 06-07, better value for money, and if u get a gud one, ul have no issues atleast 2-3 years. ahead
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

City is a good option but if you want cheap maintenance+some reliability, Corolla is the best, If you want quality & good brakes: Civic is the best but maintenance kills In your range you cant find any model of CIvic of last 5yrs, INCREASE UR RANGE n go for city 05,o6 (my mashvara)
just remember: the more the car Old, the more the problems arise...

so try to find any car under last 5yrs manufacture..
I will also not recommend a CF3, because when it comes to maintenance+repairs, your salary Oont ka mu ma zeera..

Increase some range & buy a new car, new is new, old is old
Always remember, the best things in life are not things.

    @Marschall

    Sir

Corolla is a very good and dependable car for salaried persons, also for driving conditions in Karachi.

Look for a good low mileage 2002-03 Xli or SE Saloon, according to your budget.

Corolla's brakes are first class, fuel economy is good, Z gen engines are world class and suspensions are easy to maintain, just do not drive it like a cab/rental or a sports car and it will serve you good, there is considerable body roll and lift at high speed and cornering but it is still much better then Suzukis and Indus Corolla.

    Regards

I wont recommend buying a galant 98 from your hard earned money, maybe a Lancer 2005 but not an old galant

@959, mate I didn't expect it from you Corolla's brakes are don't fall in the category that you have mentioned.

@poster, why don't you go for a 2001 EXI? I recently saw a member who has bought black exi in a really good condition for 8,15,000 in karachi and that was a beauty to look at. You can find the link in member rides bought during ramadan. I would, on the other side, agree to 959's option about SE Saloon if it has to be a corolla. SE Saloon has that driving pleasure which you would enjoy in your first car along with excellent economy on CNG and cheaper maintenance.
