It may be that the OP is referring to "extreme" drifting, which is a particularly aggressive style of drifting, and just used the wrong word to describe what he may (or may not) have in mind.
He is referring to a retard variation of drifting, that is practised on public roads, mainly on FWD cars i.e. Camry, Accords, Civic's and so on. It's not that drifting is a crazy sport, it is an amazing sport actually if done in controlled environments, on drift "tuned" cars, all he's going to end up doing can be broken down into 3 things:-
1) Crash his car (which daddy most probably paid for) into public and/or possibly private property.
2) Since they don't practice the use of basic safety features such as seat belts in the "sport" end up injuring himself,
3) End up crashing into an innocent bystander, motorcyclist or even a bicyclist since they can end up coming in front of you when yo least expect it.
