you should ideally shift to S when you cross 100 kmph. Another view on this ''S'' gear is for sporty driving overall when you can use a surge of fuel for higher acceleration.
'B' is for driving in hilly areas on rather steep & continous inclines & declines.

    Dear All

    In Vitz/Yaris

S = Second - The vehicle uses only first two gears for going uphill and this is RPM/Speed dependent i.e increasing the speed to a certain speed or to RPM its shifts up to "D"

B = Brake - exclusively for downhill journeys without using brakes; this allows the engine to break the speeds and to minimize the use of brakes

    Poster,

B Gear gives you maximum braking, you have high control on brakes it is especially designed for Hilly area & Mountain ranges. Because normal D Gear will have continous shifting according to accelerator. I used B Gear last month when i went to Muree, trust me the control on braking is extra-ordinary.

S Gear will give you super drive, when you need acceleration without interruption of gear shifting. For example you need it while you are overtaking or having race.

Trust me, I really enjoyed its driving in S Gear when i want a super drive with heavy acceleration. Because this is only missing element of this machine.

Everything i mentioned above is according to my humber knowledge.

B means bost it is fr hilly areas like murree.its gives boost to the car..n used fr better acceleration ... i use it under 80 km/h..

S means super drive its fr high speed above 100 km/h it gives much more power than D on high speed ...i have switched to it many times after 110 km/h on highway n car goes quickly to 140 150 km/h...

S does not means only 2 gears...
S" is for sport. If you're driving on twisty country roads and want to keep the RPM up as you wind through corners, the "S" position is where you want to be. In "S", the transmission holds lower gears longer for more power as you come out of the curves.

The "B" position favors lower gears, too, but for a totally different purpose. Just as you might shift a conventional transmission to Low on a long downhill grade; you can shift into the "B" position to increase engine drag and help slow the car while coasting down a hill.

S is always for sports, these vehicles have cvt, no physical gears. S turns of all the eco systems and increases the fuel intake to the engine. B, like many other mentioned, is used to hold the engine while coming downhill

S is secondary and B is braking mode.
