    Its having a 1300cc hypervalve engine.
    Still one of the fastest in the 1300 category.
    There were 2 trims in the facelifted model i-e from 2001~2003
    EXI and EXI-S.
    EXI-S was having power windows, electronic side mirrors and some chrome strips on the doors etc.
    Engine was the same 1300cc.
    The acceleration, drive and the comfort level is superb.
    About resale a clean EXI-S in Islamabad would cost you between 6~7 lac depending on the condition and the mileage.
    One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

    Danyal said it all.

    A little correction though - you'll hardly find a very clean city under 7 lakh.

    i recently bought myself a 2001 model city exis. a very rare piece, all petrol driven. it belonged to an accomplice and was in my eyes for the past 4-5 years. exceptionally well kept and just 32k kms driven.

    i just want to ask, wats the average fuel consumption of this model? both within city and on highways and with all time AC on???

    I have heard from a lot of ppl tht its fuel consumption is very low but I am getting 11.5-12KMPL with all time AC, within city driving, which i think is relatively high, if i compare it with previous model corolla xli. pls suggest if its OK for this model or if theres any room for improvement. all necessary maintenance already done except for the battery which seems old and a bit weak.

    Another thing which im experiancing is tht on higher speed/gears (3rd, 4th and 5th), if i remove my foot from the accelerator, the deceleration is rather very quick with a jerk like feeling.

    help solicited from previous and current EXIS owners pls.

    @Rao - the fuel consumption is absolutely fine, though with a lighter foot you can add a kilometer or two to it.

    As for the sudden deceleration, please check your engine mounts.

    i think engine mounts/foundations are pefectly fine as the car is super smooth even when idling.

    @iceman
    o yes i have been on highways with it a couple of times now and it gives 17-18 kmpl for all highway driving and exact 15kmpl for mixed urban and highway driving

    Rao, mate you need to get the engine tuned and get the battery checked because it makes me think that there is an issue with timing and the current flow to the distributor.

    @Rao

    congrats on getting a gem.I own a 2002 model EXIS since last 3 yrs. If u relate deceleration with stopping distance then it's a very gud thing ain't.as for the jerks 1st check the plugs and plug gaps,then tappets and lastly timing.
    As for the fuel consumption.I get around 19km/l with AC (on point 2),on Motorway with avg speed of 120.
    fuel tank capacity is approax 45 ltr.
    Qaiser Pal,I have not failed.But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound,people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them,confuse them

    @race addicted

    Daniyal said it all.just few pointers from my side.the EXIS had silver trims on doors and on trunk.high mounted break indicator lamp.also the EXIS door window frame is painted black whereas the EXI model was of same color as of the car.
    Both varients has same 16 hyper valve engine,with a compression ratio of 1:9.75 (if i'm not wrong) which makes the car quite fast,and you can achieve speeds upto 170-180 km easily.(i didn't drove mine above it,so don't know the top speed),but ppl claim that they have done 200 on there's.
    If u do stage 1 mods to the engine then i'm sure u can beat alot of civic's and rolla's .There was a car with D15b vtec engine with stage 1 mods in isb,who bashed alot of cars on track.
    Also there was one for sale few days ago here on PW from khi with k22 or k24 engine implanted, donno if it's still available or not.owner was asking 800k for it.

    Its an epic car. The drive is fabolous. The fuel average as mentioned earlier is around 11.5-12km/l. Ive maxxed in city 14km/l without A/C ... but on a very light foot.

    Mine is still on petrol, relatively high mileage but with the care it goes thru, still as good as it was before. (Early oil changes, and good ones at that) etc.

    Brakes are good.

    The only thing Id say is that the car feels a bit more 'stiff' compared to the newer model. Which is a relatively good thing for driving, but a bit less comfy. And yes ive checked my suspension n all ... everyhting is good. Im just comparing it to other cars. The firm feel is real confidence inspiring on roads.
