    Walikum Asalam.

Well these rides cant be compared because both belong to different categories. But still if you want to dig out some advantages and disadvantages than let me put few of them here:

Advantages of Altis S/R over GLI:

    1) You have a stronger engine abviously because its a bigger one in the same line up. As both engines are towing same sized body, the pick and speed increases.
    2) You will have a fuel cut system which will increase your safety in case of any crash.
    3) You will get body colored mud guards.
    4) You will get alloy RIMs.
    5) You will get sun roof.
    6) You will get leather packaged seat covers.
    7) You will get adjustable tilt steering wheel.
    8) You will get better information displays at panel.
    9) You will get driver side SRS Airbag.

Disadvantages of Altis S/R over GLI:
    1) Obviously Altis costs more :-)
    2) Altis drinks a lot more fuel and that is obvious too.

But I will say again. You cannot compare these cars as both belong to different categories.

Best of luck in your upgrade.
    Regards,

    ^ Agreed!
    A correction though.
Tilt/telescopic steering is also present in GLi.
One of the most difficult things in the world is to know how to do something, and to watch without comment, somebody else do it incorrectly.

Actually consumption difference is not ALOT between GLi and Altis, ie if both are manual.
If you can afford the extra cost and the minimal maitenence and fuel cost then go right ahead.

Again thanks for the correction. Please also post the per liter average consumption of both rides so that our respected brother CEO can compare their respective weight on this pocket before upgrading.

It all depends upon how you drive, but from what Ive heard and my experience
GLi can give around 12 in inter-City
and Altis can manage 10 or (cruisetronic) in city so manual Altis should give slightly more

Sir get the Altis Cruisetronic S/R.

    The only disadvantages are:

Slightly more fuel consumption (20% at max)

    More insurance premium.

    High depreciation.

    High taxes.

    Advantages:

    Much better powertrain.

Leather package, alloys, airbag, 2 Din player and other equipment.

    Exclusiveness.

If driven gently, the fuel consumption issue would also be equal. More powerful engines don't have to exert more in order to pull the same amount of weight.
