Default Toyota Belta or a Honda City (a buyers prespective)

I searched didnt actualy found a City/Belta thread, (i dont count Corolla as a citys competitor to me its a bigger sedan)

As we all know the economic conditions of the country as soon as one plans to buy or comes close to buying a new car the car prices go up.

Ive been thru the same situation initialy had in mind a Corolla Gli, (we need a power pack car)

as the prices keep going up up and up, Corolla seems a dificult option City is the next big thing but to me Honda cars seem fragile (nazuq).

So i considered that a JDM used Belta 1.0L could be a better option in lesser price.

Engine size isnt a real big issue fomme neither is Citys boot a real requirment for me. All im looking for a is a trouble free car that wont bug me for 3-5 years minimum.

I curently have a Suzuki Baleno (2005) and JDM used toyota Vitz 2002,
    a Corolla Gli (2008), A Civic Vti (2004).

The Vitz has been the best (trouble free) car ever owned mashaAllah. And the best value for money too.

So for me going for a JDM car seems an ideal option. Currently were going to replace the Baleno for another car,

    Toyota Belta

Prices : i think one can find a 1.0L version 2006-2008 for 10.5-12 lacks (top of the line versions) (clarification required)

    Car sizes
    Length4,300 mm (169.3 in)
    Width1,695 mm (66.7 in)
    Height1,460 mm (57.5 in)

    Honda City
    Prices manual tranny (Rs1315,000)
    Auto trany (Rs.1446,000)

    Car sizes
    Length(mm)4,395
    Width(mm)1,695
    Height(mm)1,480

Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Bro belta is a delicate car and not rough n tough. it will needs its periodic maintenance on time to stay in top notch condition.
its not exactly `underpowered` but can feel a bit lousy when needed to quickly accelerate.. 1300cc one is much better option but also can cost around 1 or 2 lahks more.
i would personally go for the city as its brand new and has a stronger engine.

im not at all in mood of going for a Pakistani driven JDM, God knows what the cars been thru

Altho is it for sale online? do post the link

One reason to go for the 1.0L engine is that the engines being shared with the Vitz and Passo, so (God for bid if any sensors or engine parts get messed up they can shuffled with without any alterations)

Another reason as far as i remeber Platz and Vitz (Gen1) shared the same suspension so suspension parts arent going to be a issue to.

Between belta and city... I dont knw its kinda hard to suggest. Test drive both n then decide. Also ask from owners what they think abt the cars. whats the mileage/maintenance/drive like.... That otta help u decide.

Lol maybe Paksuzuki has changed but to change my mind set they need to do some thing big now ive had 2 Bad Balenos and 1 bad Liana.

and the head issue, thats been solved in the Liana Vurv too thats what caused the car to fail on CNG lets not discuss Suzuki here

I own a Belta 1.0 2006, 2008 reg. Believe its the best car I have ever owned. Fuel milage is amazing (petrol), interior is exterior very impressive, certainly better than City, regarding being underpowered, its just a myth. japanese are not fool to manufacture an underpowered car. If this is underpowered what about Gli 1300 cc. Go for this car. But be choosy. Got it thoroughly cheched, and check if CNG is not removed, don't go for that car. You will get a 2006 model in very good condition between 975 to 1000k.

Facts are facts belta 1.0L produces 51 KW power whereas honda city produces 73 KW@ 6000 so big difference. As per my knowledge 1.0L belta is being sold in Japan only,in USA and euorope it is 1.3 L and above(usa only 1.5L) so the car is underpowered for this size which u can feel on acceleration and high speed however in city driving only it may be OK.

Ever driven with 4 passengers + luggage? That too on 100+ in summers? The car begs for its life! Literally!

The reason it is ONLY sold in Japan in 1.0L is mainly because of taxes and not so roomy/highspeed roads to drive.

    @poster
If you donnot get a 1.3/1.5 Belta, go for City. You'll love it.

    @chinyoti

Belta is not nazuk, you can drive it on unpaved roads like corolla and you won't feel anything. The drive quality is excellent and smooth only if its 1300cc

I drive it almost daily.. the 1000cc 3cyl engine mated with CVT sounds exactly like a washing machine at full speed when you rev it hard. No joking, its very annoying.

But it obviously has lots of plus points too to its side. My advice... test drive both and decide for yourself.

In Pakistan or atleast in karachi, most of the cars are driven in the city only, we hardly have express ways, or highways linking the City, And only once in a blue moon one travels outa city.

So a 1.0L car shouldnt be a hasle thou, i checked some international reviews thoose actualy claim that the 1.0L Belta gets a fuel average of 19-22km/L with City driving.

apreciate your advice, the sound issue seems just like the Vitz (gen2) as the same engine etc.

as u have driven the Belta, So tell me the one you drive how do u think its underpowered when u compare it with your Gen1 Vitz?

Does the car drag? accelerates hard? doesnt changes gears? lacks in over taking or what?

And are u sure ure using the proper iridium plugs in that car? (the 1kr-fe requires iridium plugs only)
