It depends on what you final goal is. A proper restoration would cost a lot, but a reasonable freshening may well be within your budget.

I am sure local experts will be here shortly to guid you. You can also check this thread for more information, since a lot of guys there are into restoration projects:

If the engine is in good condition don't mess with it. However, u can add K&N airfilter, 4 tip plugs, intercooler, down piping etc. etc.thingys to it.

Also, get whole of its suspension redone; change bushes, ball bearings, axle joints etc. etc. Get hold of a good electrician and bring all the lights, meters etc. to life. Then u can get the denting, painting jobs done.

The best tactic would be to complete one thing at a time. 1st, go for the entire suspension job. Then the electrician. Then denting & painting. And lastly, slowly and gradually, u can go for add ons like exhaust, down piping etc.

By the way, is this the same Mark II which is in Lhr? If yes, then I were also very seriously contemplating to get hold and restore it to its previous glory.

In my opinion, the whole project won't cost you a penny more than Rs.100k.

You mean to say 100k inclusive of the car price or 100k plus car amount, please specify as i do have a car (i.e. genuinely with its first owner) in view for a project but that uncle is demanding much much more.

    Its gonna be tough job.
Making the body panels to align is no joke.
But I guess a competent enough bodyshop worker can do a decent enough job if you can find one.

    hmmm
one of my all time favs markII
1 main thing is body as i see it has some previous paint jobs as well but it won't reveal it self till all the paint is scraped off so thats the time when body can be seen what it needs to be replaced and what not but a common good paint job will set u back nearly 30K and denting accordingly
2 as this car is old and rare now u must use every bit on this car as u can like front grill looks in a good nick just repaint or chrome it it will be new again
3 engine as u said can go up to 70MPH=110km/h but it can do better don't go for turbos and stuff its a pain in the neck turbo charging a car and this marks engine is probably old not to do so much stuff to it but u can re tune this engine to back to its glory take it too good meachincs it will work nice again and change plugs with iridium 3.5K a set and wires 8mmor 10mm what u can find
4 old cars have rotten interiors so thats a must to do new cussions every thing and the gauges just take em out and clean them if posible change lights in them to LED's
5 suspension work is important do go for that and if u can't find original shocks use up model corolla's shocks with it
    Hanjiii Kaa Storeey Eehh !
