    Default Civic 2001-2003 (MT) Suggestions

hi, i'll be getting a car in a little while. Originally i had planned to buy a Swift or a City. But now since the petrol prices are on 7th sky and all of the new cars are flop on cng, i changed my mind so im planning on getting a civic 2001-2003 model. My budget was around 14 lakh Since in my knowledge that'll be the car worth it if i can get it somewhere around 7-9 lakhs and rest i'll spend on its maintenance/modification/aftermarkets etc.. and save some as well and even if i have to sale it i wont have to bear alot of loss. Now can u guys tell me about its parts (availability, prices etc..), its mileage both on petrol and cng, braking, road grip and most important of all are there any problems with cng in this car. I'll be using my car for a lot of traveling b/w Lahore and Islamabad and if u guys have some better suggestion for me plz i really need it...and plz dont start a war about suzuki vs honda vs toyota...

Thanks, oh and btw no suggestions abt corolla....cause i really hate that car....except for Altis....

yr if u want to buy a civic 2001-2005 ...then go for an EXI ....believe me i bought an EXI 2003 few weeks back and its mileage is very good both on CNG and on PETROL specially on long routes .....VTi is a fuel drinking machine ...its not considered to be an economic car ...i sold my 2005 VTi ORIEL manual jux because of consumption and bought EXi 2003 and mashallah its going great

@bango, im not saying ure wrong, but my grandfathers car (vti manual 2001) gave max 7-8kms/Liter

im driving my uncles Exi 2002, auto, is giving max 10km/L

a recently purchased 04 Vti pt, in family is giving aprox 55kms on 500rs petrol
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

buy a civic 99-00 or 2001-2005 both are awsum but i would suggest buy a 99-00 in good condition it is better in grip n acceleration plus it does 15km/l on petrol highway easily n if u change gears at 2500 rpm in city driving it will give 11km/l with ac 12 without but do buy a vti!! its really stable on highways!! and modifications are easily availiable u can modify it to make it really sporty easily!! =D

people who say the civic 2002-03 is heavy on gas just so you know i did almost a 14.5km/l intercity ... yes 14.5...just before the petrol prices went up. You should note that i mostly drive on 2:1 ratio, that is 2=HOBC and 1= Regular, so it does turn to be a bit more expensive than only regular petrol but the average also drops. Plus with HOBC the engine feels better as well ..

I guess the curse runs in the family then J/k.

On a serious note there's something really wrong with either the petrol pump you guys use, or your tuner, or your driving habits.

VTi Manual gives 7-8 if driven absolutely like trash - like above 4k rpm all the freakin time.

Another thing - guys at Honda Fort (Lahore) said that in normal city driving, VTi gives better fuel economy than an EXi. Member @UmarSattar can vouch for that since he was also present there.

yes the vti is better at fuel economy plus power 1) because i own both of same model and 2) because the vti's cylinders arent used fully at low rpms so it uses less fuel but uses fore when vtec kicks in!!

You won't be needing CNG that much as its already giving a pretty decent mileage....

Now whatta City it is that is now available in Pakistan. Its beats Suzuki Mehran in mileage.

Sir why do not you go for a new City M/T?

If you know Civics and can care for it, it will reward you, else you should go for a low mileage 06/08 City M/T.

Vario is very good for fuel economy and heavy traffic but does not run on CNG.

One cannot have best of both worlds i.e. cheap maintenance and good cars do not go side by side in Pakistan.
