    Depreciation of car since it is being used for work.

    Kms spent for private use/ Total usage in Kms so what ever the figure is it will be in percentage is your cost for work.

    depreciation can be calculated as it is calculated in your office

    Eg 10km for office total 20km
    it will be 50%
    so if we assume depreciation

    25%for 5 years car value is 500,000

    then 125000 a year of which 50% will be 62500

    62500/12= rs5208
    RIP

    @qw

    the guy i bought the car from bought it for 8 lacs something in 2006
    i bought the car in 2010 from him for 9.5 lacs
    hence proved for cars in pk, depreciation works in book value's of companies etc

    @haris, IDSI is a CD 70 in fuel consumption in 1.3 category buddy

    @2c
    nice link for those who want to calculate based on petrol/diesel

    There are direct and indirect costs related to motoring, and some can be calculated only retrospectively.

    Direct costs are: purchase price, taxes and registration, insurance, plus the direct running costs: fuel, consumables (oil, filters, tires, wipers, etc.) and maintenance (labor costs, brakes, servicing, bodywork repairs, damages etc.).

    Indirect costs are the depreciation and cost of replacement. These can be calculated only retrospectively, i.e. after you have sold off the car and bought a replacement car after the mileage accrued. For example, a car bought for 1 million and sold for 500,000 while being driven 100,000 km will cost Rs 5 per km in depreciation, but a replacement car may cost 1.5 million by then. With the shrinking rupee in Pakistan, sometimes this may mean a buying price of 1 million, a selling price of 1.4 million after 200,000 km, but a similar class of replacement car may be 2.5 million by that time.

    Thus, you start with a new car, and then end up with another new car, having driven a certain mileage.

    All those expenses counted together will be the cost to drive per kilometer (or mile).

    Air Freshner is also a consumable like brakes and every thing but we have to ignore it because of the fact that its too cheaper and would contribute to maximum of 5% of the total cost. But in case of service, which would be atleast 2-3 times a month and would be ATLEAST 500 / month which is around 15-20% of the total cost, I dont thinks so it should be negligible. Same goes for matts. Cheap

    brake service is 200 rupees.
    Polish cosmic is for 270 a box..........
    i would rather put all the little costs in my personal travel expenses and not for work and back i think i am good with the calculations here.

    the idiot luckily left out tissue box, mats, seat covers, rear and front sun screens, etc. window shades i can't add because the genius is fine with clothes, towels, chart paper and/or ANY thing that can block view from outside.

    he left them out just like you always leave out IH from my name.

    These all could add to the period cost and as I told you they are negligible to the total calculations so could be ignored or added as 200 PKR as Misc !

    you are right depriciation doesnt corelate to our society!

    interestingly as the car models get older, people prefer to buy it rather than a new one, thinking its easier for the mechanics to work on.
