only use distilled water to dilute coolant...
DO NOT use tap water, well water, river water, canal water, naala water, sewage water, dam water, sea water, flood water, tsunami water to dilute coolant.. also DO NOT use Nestle, Aquafina, Kinley etc etc as they are mineral water not distilled water...
all these have salts/minerals in it which upon heating would leave white scales/coat on the inner walls of ur cooling system...and may also cause blockage..!!! distilled water on the other hand is FREE of these salts/minerals hence fit for diluting coolant...!!

Why go into all this headache when you can simply use Waterless Coolants?

Color of coolant never determine the capabilities of coolant. A coolants with sufficient inhibitor package does.

yeah sab bottled water hain bhai insan k peenay ka leay kisi bhi bottle par mineral water nahi likha hota. Mineral water sirf flowing stream of river & springs ka hota hai ap logoun ko keya ho gaya hai kabhi kabhi consumer product ka content lable bhi parh leya karayn.

Coolant comparison NASA vs OSAKA vs DK vs GS vs ZIC -412224

dear mineral water is NOT bad for insaan... carefully chosen minerals (either found naturally or added artificially) in appropriate proportion are good for human health....however coming back to the topic.... mineral water is bad for a vehicle's cooling system and should not be used to dilute a coolant...distilled water should be used which is free of these minerals/chemicals impurities..
here is what shud be used for dilution of coolant (where applicable)...!!!

Yesterday I did an expeiment. I had bought a litre bottle of guard red anti rust coolant. Put it in the freezer. Checked today after about 24 hours and it was not frozen BUT coolant in the bottle has expanded and the level has increased. Please comment on it.

I had a long conversation with a Guard engineer. He said that their red one is based on OAT and especially designed for aluminium blocks.
He also invited me to visit the factory (been planning to go there some time).

Now, I've poured it in 4 cars, and its been about 3,4 months - and it hurts me to report that I'm not satisfied (or educated enough for that matter).
It lost its colour in about 3 weeks, which was odd. I had some leftover in a bottle, even that went transparentish - so it has nothing to do with my system being acidic etc.
Secondly: in like 3,4 months the pH has dropped from about 10 to 8.8 (50-50 mixture). Which predicts that I might have to drain it in a couple of months. Generally, an acidic system is to blame- but again with the leftover bottle, the same.

Coming to the final point: how can they price it, being OAT based antifreeze, so low?

I really need to visit them with these questions, car and that spare solution bottle.

the PH looks okay to me, but the dye losing colour is strange.. How clean are your systems internals?? When I added coolant to a system which was rusty, I first cleaned it out with acid wash and made sure that all passages are open then repair any leaks.

If you can get the MSDS from them and post it here it would help.

Sir, don't you think pH is dropping too fast?

And it didn't happen to one car here; all the of the 4 cars those were poured with Guard are showing pretty much same results.
System were flushed with acid and neutralized. There were no leaks or not much rust either. Coolant was diluted with deionized water.
As I stated, I had about half a liter of solution leftover, even that has lost pH and colour + there is some reddish residue settled at the bottom of leftover bottle.

thats bad - I thought that it was the coolant inside the engine that changed itself, but you have cleaned it with acid, it may had made sense of any remaining acid in the engine but you say that the bottle itself precipitated out, show it to them and ask why that happens.

This is not normal by any standard - if it can settle in the bottle it can settle in the block too
