Thumbs up Technical Digging- Honda City Vs Suzuki Swift

Dear analysts, experts and all ,
    AoA !

I have to buy my first car and I ask your worthy suggestions on the said topic. I have seen both cars, tried to comprehend their differences. I want to get a Technical brief on critical topics. Like

for example some say the @ 73KW city is still underpowered and swift's 92hp engine outshines all others in its class.

Comparing exterior (Lights, features like fog lamps, front grill, metal strength, design efficiency) does city has alloy rims? (2011 model)

Interior (Some say the city's interior is a blow off whereas some find it point less. How does it compares to swift)

Performace of both in all drive conditions (Low and higher end rpms), top speed, acceleration etc.

    Value for money.

NOTE :- Please compare excluding resale value and hatch back @ 1300 factor as these are not an issue for me. I want some thing that looks stylish from the outside and promises the same excellence on road.

    Looking for responses.

    Regards

    Raza

city is being manufactured locally where as swift is being assembled in japan I have no idea if they started making it here now .... do confirm and if still swift is japan assembled then go for swift without wasting time

overall swift is offering the best value for money in its class. nowadays parking is a biggest issue so i'd suggest you a hatchback especially when its your first car. if you have no plans for cng then the boot can fulfill your needs quiet well.

Yes I plan to keep it on petrol and I guess swift is assembled inland.
If you can be more technical like weight to acceleration comparison, material used inside, seat fabrics etc.

These are just my observations or guesses as frankly I have not driven any of them :-)

-Both cars have in same engine capacity (1.3), but different class
-Swift's engine is no where close to City in terms of latest technology (i-vtec).
-City is the most fuel efficient car in 1.3 category.
-Apparently Swift has advantage when it comes to power to weight ratio.
-Swift has alloys, fog lights, spoiler, bridgestone tires, City does not have

In the end if I have to chose, I will go for City with electronic auto transmission.

What about swifts engine? It is dual overhead camshaft(DOHC). How city's iVTEC outshines this ? I thought they are both comparable? Isn't

Both cars have there own Pros & cons,
You have to decide for yourself,
Features wise Swift is loaded with more features, and is 2LAcs cheap
City is a Sedan and people in this part of the world Show more respect to a Sedan
City has V-tech which kicks in Yo
Pick wise both are good and depends on engine tunning a lot, And frankly speaking KWs and HPs dont matter in everyday life .. .
No one can tell you what is good for you.

City is for sure better then swift.swift may be fractionally faster then city but that doesnt matter in a local passenger car which is to be used for family purpose.
wat matters is the level of comfort, fuel economy and spaciousness of the car. and city takes the lead in that!

Amigo ! Thanks for your concern. I listed down my preferences (If you see the first post)
I am more focused on what is inside both, their reliability, features etc.

Go for what seems to you more hot both cars are good.City is more economical then swift because of i-vtec and more room for lagage after installation of CNG.
Where swift drive is of more sporty feeling and performance according to our driving conditions.

its better that you visit showroom and check out both cars
swift has got more feature alloys, fog lights, spoiler, bridgestone tires
though paying over 1million for a suzuki car m not sure
on the other hand city is a sedan a family car
city interior is black (same quality as others) its just that its black and is difficult to maintain, though i like black
city is i-vtec is a proven technology and fuel consumption is better

Today I went to Murree and saw a Swift with 6 persons climbing the hills so fastly and over taking all the other cars even Civic reborns (It also depends upon your driving. I have seen that mostly people from plain areas like Lahore and Faisalabad stuck their new cars in mountain driving)

there is no clear cut winner in this comparison

Fuel Economy wise City is better
Acceleration wise Swift is .2 sec fast
Space wise City has the upper hand
Features/Price wise Swift takes the lead

the best thing to do in this case is take a test drive of both cars
buy the one which feels better to you

    My Matrix of comparison is

    a) Features
    b) Fuel Economy
    c) After sales Support
    d) Reliability of parts

I do not consider resale value as I plan to keep it for a while neither I deem "a family" in near future so city being family car becomes pointless. Please compare on above mentioned parameters

    Best Regards
