Thumbs up Technical Digging- Honda City Vs Suzuki Swift

Dear analysts, experts and all ,
    AoA !

I have to buy my first car and I ask your worthy suggestions on the said topic. I have seen both cars, tried to comprehend their differences. I want to get a Technical brief on critical topics. Like

for example some say the @ 73KW city is still underpowered and swift's 92hp engine outshines all others in its class.

Comparing exterior (Lights, features like fog lamps, front grill, metal strength, design efficiency) does city has alloy rims? (2011 model)

Interior (Some say the city's interior is a blow off whereas some find it point less. How does it compares to swift)

Performace of both in all drive conditions (Low and higher end rpms), top speed, acceleration etc.

    Value for money.

NOTE :- Please compare excluding resale value and hatch back @ 1300 factor as these are not an issue for me. I want some thing that looks stylish from the outside and promises the same excellence on road.

    Looking for responses.

    Regards

    Raza

yes, certainly hard to believe. was a shock for me and the other guy too. but thats as gud as vti prosmatec is.i must say that prosmatec is the slowest auto tranny, manual vti feels almost twice as fast as pros.
as for the driver, i dont think u can do much in a prosmatec, what the guy did was shift to D while holding accelerator ( wheels spun a bit) and then all he cud do was, padel to the metal.i also did the same , but i tried to minimize wheel spin in launch, just to give the auto a chance, but the result is in front of u.

i have 3-4 other videos too, me racing against exi promatec and another vti.will post em later.

city for sure gives better fuel mileage....my 2010 city gives at LEAST 14.5km/l...n thats in bumper to bumper city driving...on highways ive never tried hypermiling except once n that time i was maintaining 90 kph approx at around 2800 rpms and i got approx 20.5 km/l....now lets go to the exciting part....the I Vtech as far as ive come to know means 2 V techs....one kicks in at around 3600 rpm n the 2nd at around 5500...the kick of the first one is awesome n ive never revved my car to beyond 5500 rpms till now so cant comment on the 2nd vtech. With a floored throttle the city becomes a mad dog n only experiencing it urself will convince u on that. In looks department the city is again miles ahead. The boot space isnt always just a FAMILY requirment...its still good to have a big boot n city as a really big boot.

The only bad part about the city is its interior quality which is pathetic (all plastic), and the seat comfort (very hard seats), lack of features like good tires, keyless entry, immobilizer, alloy rims etc etc.

    Now decide urself.

Ok lets try this without the 0-100km/h fanboy noobfests as though drag racing these cars waiting what seems like minutes to change a gear is fun.

    First

Exterior - Looks wise, its a user choice. Personally the Honda looks frigging fantastic. And its upto date. The current Swift you get is actually a pretty old model. Id definately pick a City over the Swift in looks. A lip kit and some decent rims and the city looks ace!

Interior - Well. The city doesnt have a quality interior as you'd expect from a Honda, but neither does the Suzuki IMO. City got more space inside.

Comfort - The honda is definitely more comfortable. Ive sat in both cars. The Honda is quieter inside. And more soft at the bumps.

Power - The i-DSI is a more eco friendly engine and you would seem a tad bit lack of power. But its smooth. And its a VTEC. And its a Honda. They make fantastic engines. Honda has far more experience in engines than Suzuki, thats a fact. The Swift would be faster being lighter with more power. But as smooth, doubt it. Nor as economical.

Drive - Well, Id sound biased but there is no way in hell a Suzuki hatch will match a Honda sedan. Whereas Ive not owned either car (current model) so I cant judge that properly ... somethings are rather obvious no ? I mean cmon, Honda vs Suzuki. Not the same league IMO

Id buy the Honda City over a Swift anyday.

Id advise you dont look at little things like Rims or foglights. Those can be bought.

Plus as far as rims go, if your okay with the Swift's stock rims, I see no problem in the City's hubcaps. If you want to put some good looking rims, you'd be buying them for either car.

Plus, keep the tyres. They are good.

Well rims, tyres and fog lights are not biggies. I would advise you to first drive the car as it is (total stock) for a while and if it grows on you then put money in show shaw, otherwise sell it and get the second choice. Alloys and Japanese tires are made keeping in mind 99 percent good and 1 percent bad roads, while in our country it is other way around.

Euro Star by General are not that bad buddy, they have been designed keeping in view the tough road conditions and they really last well on all kinds or roads.

I tried the Swift today. An old friend of dad happened to drop by and he owns one.

Its NOT comfortable. Seats feel to small to me. The ride isnt good either.

Its powerful. Specially after 5000RPM the engine pulls nicely. I only did 1st gear runs *dusray ki gari thi yaar *

I did not like the driving position. Its too high, and in driving it doesnt give you much feel. Feels heavy and bulky.

    I didnt like it.

I had new shaped City; kept and drove about 25k, all on petrol. The beauty of this car is that its economical and fun at same time. It will behave like a good child; if you want to, and it can be naughty if you want to...I had 17+ averages on long drive even with A/C, and could travel LHR-FSD (120+ Kms) within hour when I had to...Its big and still smart enough...you can use it for family trips with luggage, and can do typical pak-driving tricks in city traffic rush

The only thing my wife disliked about it that its front passengar seat is not comfy enough...and the only thing I disliked was its cheap plastic interior; I liked the black interior; its just cheap quality of plastic which gets dirtier very quickly

Why I sold it was nothing had to do with the car; I just wanted to invest more into my ride!
