Question Altis 1.6 or Civic which one to buy

    Dear all!

I was planning to purchase Altis 1.6 A/T SR next month. But booking was closed and launch was delayed. The other option will be Civic but its new model on its way.
Please suggest what to do? buy civic or wait for Altis?

You can compare anything and everything between these 2 cars!

I say do not compare M5 with Civic which means everything including FC.

If people are STUPID to compare 1.8 Altis with 1.3 Gli, you are also STUPID to join that comparison.

Comparison on anything, should be done on a level field.
You really are unaware what are you taking about and what's your point.

I will not add anything further since you fail to understand a simple point which is "Bigger the engine displacement, lesser the fuel consumption vis-a-vis eco-boxes on same speed and circumstances.

As for GLi vs Altis, then this forum is not at all your cup of tea, a person will definitely be concerned about the fuel averages while choosing between an Altis or Gli either old or new and we have seen such examples on PW before.

Lastly, you can think yourself to be the biggest smart here by telling us to compare M5 with E200 but infact you have proved yourself to be dumb enough who cannot interpret a simple query regarding the relation between higher engine displacement, Varying speeds and fuel consumption.

    P.s

I will not reply to your nonsense again because iam not STUPID.

    Thanks

I do not have to read the entire posts in this thread to tell you
STUPID people compare Apple to Orange and say Orange is better.

If you like to do such STUPID comparison, why not compare M5 to Airbus 330??
    -.-
we were comparing Fuel Economy of Bigger Displacement Engines
not gonna waste my time on something that can be understood so easily in this thread

last i checked 8G has K and R Series VTEC-E system which does decrease cam profile at lower RPMs

almost shutting off 1 of the 2 intake valves per cylinder

    look it up
    DOHC VTEC / SOHC VTEC-E / 3 Stage VTEC

You mentioned "VTEC" in your earlier post and current Civics have "i-VTEC" which implies R/K series engines. So obviously you were either talking about previous gen (i.e. D16) or simply dont know the basic difference between the two. Eitherway, VTEC-E is totally different from DOHC/SOHC VTECs.

On a side note, most of the SOHC VTEC implementations are "ONLY" on intake OR exhaust. Honda's VCM technology is not applied to Civics so there is no shutting down of intake valves (or cylinders, like in Accord 3.5).

Lastly, no SOHC/DOHC VTEC shuts off intake valves. VTEC simply changes cam profile using lobes & oil pressure (hence only at higher rpms).

ye i should have not generalized it as VTEC so that was my bad

also Camshaft/Camlobes in an engine are responsible to press/depress Valves

increasing the Cam Profile will make it press/depress or open/close Valves faster

similarly Lowering the Cam Profile on one of the Intake Valves per Cylinder will mean those Valves will open/close very little and for a very short time

which is what i was trying to say about closing intake valves

I understand your point of view here. Except that changing cam profile as you mentioned above affects BOTH intake valves equally. Speaking of SOHC VTEC, that is.

Bro, you really have a hard time reading my post properly. I am referring to "SOHC VTEC" and the link you're providing is of SOHC i-VTEC. Big difference there.
