Default New mehran or used Cultus? (Confused)

    Dear fellows,

i have been great fan of pakwheels.com and have been visiting it for the great information and knowledge that u experts share here. today i finaly joined pakwheels.com

I need ur expert advice. i have 6,00,000 and have 2 options.

Option 1. Cultus VXRi (petrol): owner's demand 6.15

2007 model, Black colour, milage 31,000km, petrol driven, condition 7/10, no touch up, excel mein thora issue hai (cut cut ki awaz during turn) dash board ka panel broken as deck was stolen, A/C duct fins broken, and interior needs interior cleaning.

Option 2. Brand new Mehran VX- CNG

    A/C Market se lagva lunga.

    Please advice....me confused.
Ager Cultus leta hun to CNG lagvani hogi aur jo kaam ooper bataye hain, to samjho 50, 000 ka kharcha aur karna parega. per ager mehran leta hun to No Tention (dil mutmayeen hoga)

    Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you to go for Cultus if and only if you know how to maintain a car. If you do not care for your car, then go for a brand new one as most probably it will not give you issues for the first couple of years.

Secondly, Cultus is obviously much luxury, powerful, comfortable and good looking as compared to Mehran. It's A/C is also better than that of Mehran's. You can take it to long routes as it would be more reliable.

As far as the "kharcha" is concerned; for how much will you get a good A/C for Mehran? Obviously it would also cost you something if not as much as CNG kit for Cultus. The issue that you have mentioned regarding the suspension of Cultus is with the boot or commonly known as "godda" as it makes "tak tak" sound while turning only. Well, that is not a major problem and will not cost much money and time.

Also compare the overall expense that you may have after buying either of the cars. You might go for new tyres for Mehran, seat covers, foot mats, most importantly registration etc. How much do you think you would be spending on Cultus? As the engine has been used on petrol, I am hopeful it wont have any issue. Check the tyres of Cultus, as it is also important. As it is said, "kurri pairan to te gaddi tairan to".

CNG would be the only major expense but consider the following equality:

Cost of CNG = Cost of A/C + Cost of Registration

You may be satisfied with a new Mehran, but you wont be satisfied by its A/C cooling, performance and comfort.

Verdict: It you think you can maintain cars, black cars, then go for Cultus after doing possible bargain.

Search another Cultus, preferably petrol driven 2005-2006 Model you will get in the range of 530-550k in Karachi. Another expense of CNG etc. will cost you another 40-50k, so it will in your range.

yar i my self drive mehran. if you buy mehran than you can not run ac well and there will be absolutely no comfort. agar bohat pyar say chalao ga to bhi 1.5 years baad is ka gear arna shuru ho jai ga, steering will become very hard and interior will become dirty very soon. cultus is way better than mehran. at least ac sahi kaam karta hai. comfortable bhi hai. i will suggest that you add more money if you can and buy cultus. you will not regret. 2005 ki cultus bhi zero meter mehran say behter ho gi.

I think my statement was pretty much clear. However, what I meant was that if a person knows how to maintain a car, and I am talking about any car and not just Cultus, then even the used and old cars don't give you issues. Proper maintenance means proper and in time check ups along with sensible way of driving.

You don't have to do anything extra to maintain a Cultus; just proper care is required.

I was referring to the poster that if he is the kind of person who takes care of his cars then he shouldn't be having an issue with an old vehicle.

Cultus is way better than mehran in every aspect, space, interior, AC, drive, comfort... but i doubt that the cultus you mentioned in your thread is worth going for....07 vxri that too of 6.15.. nah man, something fishy about that car.. leave it and go for some well-kept earlier model than that ....

coz when you go for a second hand car, how well a car is kept is more important than of what model it is ....!

Cultus will be a way better option.
But do look for a good Cultus with factory fitted CNG, you can easily get a well-kept one in this price range (2004-06)
