Default 2011 Corolla 1.6L Altis AT / GLI AT

    Hi Fellows:

After reviewing the specifications of recently launched Corolla 1.6L model, I'm initiating this thread for discussing specifically the "Automatic" transmission versions. The two variants discussed here are:

    - 1.6L GLI Automatic
    - 1.6L Altis Automatic

Kindly post your comments / feedback regarding the two variants. Do Not discuss CIVIC or any other Corolla variant.

    Thanks !

^ Are you sure, Altis AT is more tuned for economy?

I thot it was just Eco lamp and Eco lamp+Eco zone (what ever Eco zone is )
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

What my mind says, and the ilustration i saw on the Indus webiste and adds, is that, theres a Eco lamp in Gli. Where as in Altis there would be a defined Eco zone

The real time consumption meter/option is already there even in Xli

^^ So then lets wait for someone who can tell us better what they mean by "ECO ZONE"

With little Google; ECO Zone appears to be a throttle guague using which I guess one can know if he is pushing the throttle ECO friendly way or not This info is already available over OBD; but its good to have a dedicated guage!

I used to drive the 07 Corolla Axio where the Eco will light up when I am driving at a level which mean the vehicle is consuming the minimum petrol to drive at that speed.

Normally it is with 1.8 - 2rpm although Axio do not have the RPM display.

Yes having something on these lines is really nice...I sometime miss the real time fuel consumption guage of "City" (my previous ride) in Civic

The boxed area shows the real time fuel consumption bar graph; also calculate / show the average fuel consumption of the trip

Rest assured, the "launch" was deliberately delayed till these days, so as to ensure that earliest deliveries on bookings would fall post-budget.

I'm set for the MT/SR/1.6 Altis, but, humbly, this is no humane marketing strategy by Toyota/ IMC, and hadn't Honda's Oriel been singing on the last verses before an upgrade by next year or so, I'd have given a damn about IMC marketing strategies.

May I add, an increase of say 50-100K's of the Altis prices, post-budget, will doom them to hell, already being at 18.09/18.99, and the crappy package with the GLI Auto at 16.79, with no airbag/keyless entry/alloy rims and other essential goodies of this price range vehicles, is a doomed miscarriage, anyways!

Long live the "Pakistani drama", the casting of which, from top to toes, all a stinking bunch of greedy suckers, playing dirty games with the aspirations of general public, where in this country can one avail anything at the genuine/announced prices, a petty general store dealer yesterday, a bit off-shore, yet still, wanted Rs.105 for a Rs. 100 scratch card, so can we really blame anyone? Lolz!

Just wanted to share, with this Speed and RPM i managed to shoot up the average to 12 km/L from the usual 10-10.5/10.8

PS: yes i usualy drive above 3000-4000 rpms, so it was realy hard for me, but i just had made my mind that il save fuel now.,

The pictures show live fuel consumption. I managed live readings to go upto 29 km/L but that was for some seconds only, the fun part is as u remove ur foot from the accelerator or put the car into neutral the readings go upto 99.9

I have owned City (new shape) and Corolla GLI (pre-facelift). No sedan beats City for its fuel consumption I guess. I once drove it under 3k RPM (100Km/hr) from Lahore to Faisalabad with 5-6 stops (toll plazas, drinks) and had 17.3*Km/L (according to its meter; which may not be exact). It gave 14.6Km/L for ~15000 to ~21000 duration (between oil changes). I could never achieve it with GLI.

    * Night driving; with A/C (but mostly at lowest due to night)
    EDIT: Found the picture

    +1 Agreed

City has always been great on economy, we have 2 Idsi manuals, in home, (chachus use) they give 14-16km/L in city driving. Our Baleno also used to give a gud 13-14 km/L in City driving.

Even the new city having a more powerfull engine and city being lighter and smaller then rolla, it shares the benefit of being economical.
