Well I drove a company maintained
ALTO
for two years, then company maintained
CULTUS
for two years, and in early 2008 bought a Chevy
JOY
for myself. Of course everyone I met called me a stupid when they learned about my decision, but I did make the decision after a lot of reasearch (some of it on
Pakwheels
). Everyone accepts it is a good car, and once they sit in it, they give lavish praises but no one buys it because it does not have as good resale as ALTO or CULTUS has.
My answer is that I am not an 'investor' or a 'car dealer' who buys cars for reselling. I bought it for my use, and I liked the extra accessories which no other car was offering (MP3 player, power steering) in the same price range. I have been very content for the last 18 months or so... and never had a problem with it.
Now I need another car for my family, and of course I can only think of a second hand car. I heard prices of second hand JOY (2003 -2004 model) range between 320,000 to 400,000. My question is that is it a good buy? what is the cost of maintenance / spares? Until now I have been driving a brand new one, which never needed any maintenance apart from regular service.
Someone was telling me to go for ALTO in that price range, but I may get a 1999 or 98 model it this price... what to do now?
