Thumbs up Civic Oriel Vs Civic i-Vtec Vs ALtis 1.6 SR --Final Rundown

    Hello All,

There has been a great debate around the forum about the pros and cons about two major Car Rivals. Yes I am talking about Honda Civic and Toyota Altis.
So I decided to place all that I can, in black and white for all to see and come with their own ideas for improvement and for all like me who wish for an upgrade and are at cross roads of decision.

Please feel free to suggest our ideas and your Votes for the vehicles in comparison i.e

    1. CIVIC ORIEL MANUAL
    2. CIVIC I-VTEC MANUAL
    3. ALTIS1.6 MANUAL (NON SR)

I have tried to compare the features as per my knowledge and understanding.
    Attachment Include the following
    1. Comparison Sheet
    2. Civic Interior
    3. Altis Interior
    4. Civic Odo Cluster
    5. Altis Cluster

PLEASE SUGGEST NEW IMPROVEMENTS AND ALSO YOUR VOTES

    Regards

Anyhow comparing manual, 6 speed transmission Altis, Altis is way better then manual civic.

Compared to civic auto, civic is better except its hard steering, stiff seats and suspension and expensive parts. Corolla EPS rocks.

The thing with corolla is that if u buy a Xli/Gli or Altis the comfort remains the same only the horses change. Why not buy Gli rather then Altis and add altis accessories. No one knows from far that r u driving xli or altis. If buying a corolla always go for xli or gli.

I dont know y people say that the drive of civic is better then corolla, i guess they own honda or r fanboys, and not ready to admit corolla is better. Drive urself to see the difference of dual vvti and EPS. They will forget Onda.
when we say "comfort remains the same only the horses change" and then we say "drive of civic is better then corolla, i guess they own hondas" what does that mean??
More power and then to put that power properly on the road couple with comfort on the "road", plus the ability to hold these power horses, is a good drive.
no point saying again, but please go through my posts in this thread where i humbly tried to differentiate between "achi suspension" and "ABLE suspension" plus the advantages/disadvantages of EPS over power assisted and vice versa
I donot deny that corolla altis is a very good and featured pack buy when considering our roads. But also try to understand the reason why toyota gets blamed for getting out of control and honda being blamed for a stiff ride.
XLi and GLI over altis, pretty sad.

    @ umair2203

Bro Umair, having already posted a comprehensive review on my Altis 1.6 MT/SR in thread: https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/mem...ear-deployment I feel I'm "incompetent" to put a verdict here, as I'd sound 'biased", perhaps.

Yet, let me just say, I agree it's a hard choice and I went through this whole process myself before the purchase of Altis and I was like 50/50, alternating my proposed choice every hour or so!

Bro, ease yourself up and purchase what's "in" at the moment, where the name of the game is undeniably the Altis 1.6. Use it, enjoy it, and if still for any reasons you want a "switch over" to Honda, do so at time of release of new version Civic, whenever, preferably a year or 2 into launch, your Altis will sell well enough by then, or at least your expended charges on extra's/ tires/registration, etc, will be reasonably used up by then.

I do not consider the present and soon-to-be-replaced VTI Oriel/ Ivtec a wise buy at the moment, at the most it's just a temporary "itch-killer".

EPS of Altis is excellent and over the past weekend, when out for a picnic and some shooting sports, way offshore the plain metallic roads, I should have taken a couple of pictures of the spots my ride drove through without even getting dirty from the lower, leave aside touching anything!

I was amazed myself, not daring drive through, but my servant went out of the car and directed me and to my great surprise, there wasn't even a single "touch down" instance, and I was glad I wasn't seated in a Honda, humbly, no offence intended.

Let me just add, I wish I could convince you to the SR package in Altis, even if you don't care much for the extra's offered @100K's, perhaps - and most likely - your prospective buyer later would be looking just for these.

    Best of luck.

    Regards.

Pix taken in mid 2010 when record rainfall wrecked havoc in Pakistan!

On this day, i left E8 islamabad at around 5pm. on the way to rwp, i had to drive through upto 1.5ft high water.all i had to do was switch to petrol and revved the engine really hard to keep water out of the silencer.
The bottom line is, if a car is in good health i.e. no loose wires, intake is higher then water etc water wont harm any car!

couple of weeks before i have a gathering with my friends where we did unlimited masti with our rides.... following are the rides
    1. Mitsubishi Lancer 2006 (Mine)
    2. Honda Civic Oriel 2010
    3. Toyota Altis 2011

all are in petrol. i asked them that i want to drive your cars. first i took altis. did overdriving on rough roads, drifting, overspeeding (190km/hr), hardbraking, high speed turning and burnouts. same did with civic. after that i graded both the cars as:
    Civic:
    1. road grip(normal speed) 10/10
    2. road grip (at 190+km/hr) 9/10
    3. drifting 4/10
    4. brakes 9/10
    5. acceleration 9/10
    6. driving on rough roads 5/10 (felt bumps very hard but it controls the grip)
    7. comfort on plain roads 10/10
    8. comfort on bumpy roads 6/10
    9. road grip on overspeed turning 8/10

    Altis:
    1. road grip(normal speed) 10/10
    2. road grip (at 190+km/hr) 6/10 (feels like flying in the air)
    3. drifting 8/10
    4. brakes 6/10 (it really needs ABS brakes)
    5. acceleration 7/10 (not much as expected)
    6. driving on rough roads 9/10
    7. comfort on plain roads 9/10
    8. comfort on bumpy roads 7/10
    9. road grip on overspeed turning 6/10 (slips out of its way)

at the end i would like to say that civic is good for peaceful and fast driving but it cant bear rough roads. on other side altis is for doing masti, but not for overspeeding.

i dont know why. when i tried on altis, its perfect for it and when i tried on civic its hard. like it always getting grip and dosent allowing itself to slip. i think its because of tires because my friend had installed some branded tires and altis was on stock tires. after that civic main masti karne se dil uth gia. but when i cross speedlimits, then civic ne dil jeet lia.

but the point is that both the cars are not 100% perfect. but i prefer civic.
