    Default Deciding between the "TWO"

    Dear all,

being an automobile enthusiast, I have been lurking around the forum for a while and have seen very active pakwheelers (Thumbs up for that). I was wondering of you guys can help me with my decision.

I have a budget of like 1.8 million (Drag able to 2 Million)

I have narrowed down my choice to two cars

    1. Altis MT 1.6

    2. Civic Oriel MT

Problem with Altis : Though it got a new engine and extra fuel efficiency in its new model but the track record of resald of previous Altis is poor as I have learned it despite the fact that it is the best value for money (2.5 lac lesser then Civic)

Problems with Civic : New model is on its way. It has been released in USA and expected to be released in PAK , mid next year. Honda Atlas is giving 3 month lead time for delivery of current civic (MT version). If i get civic booked now, I will get it in September and the new model will come after couple of months.

Personally, I like both cars. Both have their pros and cons, but above concerned has refrained me from making any decision now.

    1. If I get a Civic now and like to upgrade when new model arrives? How will Civic Oriel MT will depreciate its value keeping in view the fact that new model is a whole new shape.

    2. If I get Altis now, how much will this car depreciates its value after one year approx keeping in view the previous resale track record of Altis

I look forward to your replies and suggestion

    Regards

If u dont already have a Corolla in your home, try out this one. Altis now having a similar engine as the Gli auto, Seems that Altis is going to do gud in resale as well, When coming to resale yes may ul brake up some money but still its going to sell for more then the value of a similar model Gli.

Yes the Changing shape of the Civic is an issue due to which many people arent opting for Civic right now. But Civic isnt a bad car, if i had money il buy both.

On a personal note, Corolla plastics are better and Corolla is durable car if u tend to use it rough. the new 1.6L gives 11-12 km a liter on petrol.

Civic is fun to drive, the 1.8L gives an average of 9km a liter, But the car is fragile, lets say if driven rough might want frequent maintainence.

Thats about it from my side, i persoanly own a 1.3 Gli, so cant say much about the Altis or the Civic Im telling what i noe, most people in my family are prefering 2 Corollas rather then a Civic Corolla combination, And thats happend in the family.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

If you want to buy a Civic buy top of the line model Civic VTi Oriel. It has more resale as compared to the VTi Varient.Don't worry about the next model.
When it will come you can easily sale it and buy the new one.The car prices will never come down.It will always go up.Even if they decrease the price in a month, they will increase the double of what they have reduced in next month.

Corolla Altis is the latest with dual VVT-i with 6speed gears.
It will be fun to drive. As far as the resale value is concerned, I know it has low resale value.

But don't care for resale value, life is too short so enjoy it.
If you are still confused, read my signature

Drive both the cars for 30 to 40 km and then decide what you want to buy.
    I eat Volverine for breakfast.

I'll say wait for civic and put a hold on corolla just see how she goes around in the market. -- untill this enjoy the one you have till the civic arrives.

The current civic seem better in shape for which introduced on the web as new civic.

^^^ ohhhh --- Which city you sold the new one ?

The current shape of rolla will remain in the market for another 3years .... I say a good option to it.

The resale for rolla will live for ever --- I say go for it.... one in a decent colour

if the city you sold is the previous one --- and you are honda fann --- than new city

If your issue with Altis is resale, just go to jail road and compare rates of 1.8 Altis with 1.8 Civic and you will be amazed. Tables have turned now and 1.8 S/R Cruisetronic has better resale than Oriel Pros Civic now. Brand new were sold for 22-23 lacs!

The New Civic model, as I heard, will start above 2 million (base model)

My fears are that this shape will go for peanuts after new shape hits the market.

Correct me if I am wrong !

Altis is having very great resale these days,,my cozin owns a showroom in khi and he was asking my car for 19.20 2010 model.so i can say,,give 1.6 a try and dont worry about resale.and the manual version is better this time, but if u are going for 1.8 then auto is best.
