Default Altis SR Manual or Auto Transmission

    Hi Friends,

I have been sold out by many of fellow Pakwheelers and have decided to buy an Altis SR. I am still undecided between the manual and auto transmissions.
My only experience with an auto transmission was a few years back with a Ford Mondeo, unfortunately the gear box started giving me trouble just a month after the 3 years warrenty expired. Since then I have never opted for an auto.
I do not intend to race my car so the 0 - 100 and top speeds do not influence any decision here. Obviously the auto transmission is less tyring to drive, hopefully most would agree.
I would like fellows using the altis over the last few years kindly advise on whether the Altis auto gear box is reliable and troble free or not and kindly also compare the fuel consumtion of the two while driven in the city.
Any other comments to help a decision would be appreciated.
    Regards

Thanks buddy, I'm tilted more towards auto as well, just a previous expensive bad experience keeps me at bay.
Could anyone also compare the fuel efficieny of the two variants.

Absolutely incorrect. I just came back from a trip to Islamabad. My Altis cruisetronic 1.8 gave me 14.5km/ltr with 5 people and A/C on 100% (even in salt range). In city, it gives me 10-11 km/ltr with A/C on.

Thanks brother, I'll be going for the 1.6 as its the newer version.
So far no member has mentioned any complaints from the auto gear box which is reassuring.

    Thanks for all the help.
Still waiting for some users of the new 1.6 variant to share their experience regarding the cruisetronic, and to compare the fuel consumption of the auto and manual transmission.

    Appreciate your help buddy.
On the lighter note, Jeremy Clarkson said the same about Mondeo as well, but I ended up paying £2000 for the gearbox.
