    Default Car selection

    Hi,
I am looking for a sedan. Early on, I was very much interested with buying a brand new Nissan Sunny, but the attitude of Ghandhara Nissan people changed my mind (govt. offices type attitude). Now, I have limited my choices to these:

    1. Brand new manual Honda City
    2. Brand new Corolla Xli
    3. Used Corolla Gli
    4. Used Honda Civic

This car would be used as a second car, and it will be used for family purposes only, so no daily long routes. Also, I do not plan to change this car as long as it runs trouble free.

The pros and cons for each of them in my opinion are:

    1. Brand New Honda City Manual:
    Pros:
    1. Features comparable to that of Corolla Gli
    2. Smaller as compared to Corolla therefore, more fuel efficient and better running. Size complements the 1300cc engine.
    Cons:
    1. Black interior
    2. Bad shape (in my own opinion)
    3. Smaller to Corolla

    2. Brand New Toyota Corolla Xli
    Pros:
    1. Good resale (although this ain't my highest priority
    2. Cheap maintenance
    3. More spacious
    Cons:
    1. No features (and it sucks! ...I end up paying 14 lacs for a car and it doesn't even have power windows)
    2. Very attractive for car lifters
    3. Larger body therefore, it will be a compromise on performance
    4. No color choice (only black or white)
    3. Used Corolla Gli
    Pros:
    1. Feature loaded
    2. Less attractive for car lifters (being a used car)
    Cons:
    1. Used car, so there is a chance of getting some problems soon
    2. Limited Insurance
    Used Civic
    Pros:
    1. Best car among the mentioned cars
    2. 1800cc engine giving a very nice drive
    3. Nice interior
    Cons:
    1. Only 4-5 year old models are affordable
    2. Costly maintenance

I will run my car on petrol. Also my budget is around 15lac.

Ok.. so I am inclining towards getting a new City M/T... How is the fuel economy?
Easily 13Km/L with AC in Karachi considering moderate Traffic

14Km/L + is also achievable provided u go easy on the accelerator

Well abt city. Lemme share some -ve points.
Awkward placement of coolant bottle. (dont know how to refill it) . .
    Cabin filter is not present.
Tire size isnt good. Should be 195.
    Thats all.

    Now coming to +ve points.
    - 70,000km warranty.
    - Braking is awesome.
    - Handling is also awesome.
    - fastest 1.3L car here in pakistan with great fuel economy.
    - Speedometer is better than XLI/GLI.
    - Finishing is v.good.
    - sound proof cabin. U ill hear bit engine noise at 5k rpm.
    - Comfortable too. Rear seats are more comfortable than Corolla.
    - Sporty look. Steering also give u sporty feeling.
    - Some people are complaining about Black interior. But i like black interior more than Beige interior.
    - Trunk is also very spacious.
    - It is more roomier than corolla. Previous corolla was more roomier than this model of corolla.( some ppl will not agree with me).
This is all i can say about this car.

    • Coolant Bottle; well it comes with nice coolant; I kept City iVTEC for ~1.5 years and never needed to replace the coolant...so no issue...its good to use proper coolant than tap water; tap water is salty; and proper coolant are not very expensive so if situation arises; go to dealer/shop; get the coolant and let them install/replace it
    • Cabin Filter; it doesnt even come in Civic You only need it if your cabin remains dusty (some people drive with opened mirrors or something) and filter is ~400Rs from Atla$ dealer
    • Fuel Average: https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/mem...el-consumption
    • Unlike Civic; City iVTEC has EPS
    • Unlike City iDSI; City iVTEC likes to accelerate
    • About black interior; simply polish it once a month (100Rs/month) and it keeps shinning!

Yes it has EPS like idsi city.
idsi lacks in braking and handling.
Shape of idsi is than new city.
im sure u ill like vtec city more than idsi.

Now coming to ur other queries
    -- Fuel eco - On highway 15- 17 km/liter with 100% A/C. speed maintained at 100- 120 km/hr. In city 13-14 km /litre with AC.
Once i was in hurry and had to reach lahore in short time. it did 10-11km/liter. with speed 160/170/180. with random A/c.
    --
Now about rear seats. Im owning 2010 model corolla saloon too. previously i had 06 model GLI. and i found previous rolla more spacious than this model.
--about rear seats. I have to drive car for 1000km continuously once in a month. our family was complaining about corolla that rear seats arent much comfortable.
When i drove my city with family. They said Seats of this car is more comfortable than corolla.
Well i cant say anything about Cng in this car. Coz Cng is not installed in my car.
My cousin installed CNG in his 09 model city and and he is satisfied with the performance on CNG.

1 thing more about top speed. new city easliy touches 190 - 200km/hr

being an owner of 06 iDSI City and 2010 iVTEC City i can safely say the New City is the BETTER car with everything considered

small things were absent in New City 09 and 10 which were added in 2011 model

Exhaust Tip / Trunk Lights / Centre console / Rear Seat Armrest

iDSI is a great car no doubt but it is extremely slow and bulky
the New City imo looks better allround except for the Tail Lights

Coming to the Interior the "Quality" of both cars is same
the Beige color somewhat negated the fact that the Plastic used is very hard
its more prominent in the Black Interior of New City

What i like about the New City is that it retains the awesome Fuel Average of iDSI and yet its also the fastest 1.3L Car in Pakistan currently

    Other things include:
Factory Tyres r crap and need to replaced
EPS is much better in New City
Clutch is by far the lightest i have seen
Brakes are solid and ABS works perfectly 80Km/h to Stand still without Skid

The City's real time fuel consumption meter is the best implementation...

This feature doesnt exist in any other car; the new 1.6L Altis AT's ECO-METER is suppose to be one such thing; but its wrongly implemented and is very confusing

If you really want to keep a car and for family and ur from karachi, i would suggest strongly that you go with a japanese toyota corrolla X or G as per ur budget model 2002 to 2005 as per ur budget, drive urself or employ a driver, ull not want to sell these cars cuz they wont give u a reason to besides their looks are pretty sober thts better if theres family inside right? and no maintenance issues literally.personally i would recommend u to buy X or G ur choice but 2005 model, u wont regret it take care

so r u sure it will gv same economy as that of idsi plus speed is more good
my iDSI City gives 12.5Km/L which i keep checking on every refill

iVTEC City never goes below 13Km/L and it mostly shows 13.3 to 13.5Km/L

i can say for a fact that iVTEC has better Fuel Economy than iDSI

    1. Total Km done by the Car
    2. Trip Odometer
    3. Fuel Average Km/L
    4. Range (Estimated Distance that can be travel with the current Fuel including Reserve)

as for Centre Console and Armrest the 2011 and onwards models come Factory Fitted with these

bro choce is urs but i personally prefer LANCER GLX AT over the cars u mentioned except 8th generation honda civic. the only defect in lancer is its expensive maintainence. otherwise its drive and comfort is more luxorious than new city, gli and xli. lancer AT also have CVT(Continuous variable transmission)and it gives awsome driving experience. and this technology is not present in any local cars even in new civic.
u can easily found a well maintained lancer in market arount 11-13 lacs.
as i already said that the choice is urs. and best of luck for a new ride. hope u will find a best car in ur budget.
