Smile Shifting to Mercedes. Is it feasible?

    Dear Members,

I need your Help. I have recently sold off my Reborn and now planning on buying a Merc. I have 2 options available, One is 1998 C240 Elegance and the other is 1988 300SEL 126, with an engine SWAP of 1999 S320. Pls suggest is it recommended to move to a German Car and what will be the maintenance Cost and daily operational cost.

If yes for Merc which one to Buy from the above 2 options.
Pls respond ASAP as I need to take the decision in a Day or Two.

    Regards,

If the 1988 model is the one on sale in used cars here with the swapped engine, its fantastic.

    @ammadshah
sir id recomend u go for the c240. its small, compact and yet so much more then a toyota/honda. keep in mind ur comparing a german car to pakistani assembled cars. i hav seen and known people who imported mercs brand new quite a long time ago and theyv kept them in stunning conditions v impoted a 190d back in 1992 from Vienna and well mashallah its still a head turner. as long as the car is well kept a merc will never breakdown. just make sure u check these basic things....

    1) look for paint waves in the body. ul get to know if the cars been hit and repainted.
2)check the rubber sorrounds near the headlights/taillights. painters usally are too lazy to cover up these areas properly when repainting
3)check all the door, trunk and other rubber linings for shredded rubber.
4)scratches are a menace so check for those too
5)people tend to bump onto the side mirrors which may tend to go loose. push them and see if theyr still tight.
6)check all the interior lights, guages, roof lining. also listen for rattles and loose equipment when the engines started
7)finally check the engine. for that uv just got to be sure urself whats rite and whats wrong. i hope these help

dear first of all i would say that typical mechanic or dealer or mentality is donot buy benz, which i disregard 101%.dear i can bet you buy any 80s Benz in good condition and you will realize what SH*T other manufactured are offer in 1.4 million to 2 million robbing our nation.a few guide lines to buy second hand Benz
1.should prefferably in geniune paint irrespective of the year of manufacture
2.you will find any model Benz cars in half price to a well maintain Benz buy one in higher price with immaculate condition as restoring or up grades are expensive
    3. buy the car with leather uphosltry / interior cloth type may not last long moreover each Benz once bought is offered with multiple options and leather interior means you may find other upgrades
    4. Go for a popular model like E200, E230 or 190E if aval in best shape with benz do not preffer newer model its condition that matters most
5.do not spend all your amount in buying Merc buy 1990-92 230e or 200e etc and put remaining amount in some investment or what ever
    6. good luck do not be affraid of spares i ve bought complete tacho meter assy for 2000 for my 190e complete engine with auto trans for 230E 1992 is 150000, trans alone is 40000
    7. search for benz specialist other then shahnawaz as they are costly in rawalpindi shahnawaz are also getting complicated mech repairs throuh my mechanic who is 50% less in cost
