smallest engine W124 - over a million rupees - the owner is living in LA LA land or is completely insane.. This model is not worth spending your efforts on, look for a later W124 or atleast a car with a bigger engine

btw dont call it an E200 - its from an era where there were no classes. This is simply mercedes benz 200 (W124 body style)
Its a 200 E and I'm positively sure Merc classes existed back then too, you would not call a 260SE just 260 though a 260E never existed or did it? or a 280E as a 280 confusing it with 280 S class.

classes came to existance after 1993. This car only is a 200 - which literally translates to 2.00 litre carburettor engine.

The 230E that you see commonly in a W124 is 2.30 litre "Enspritzen" meaning fuel injection engine. Similary the D stood for diesel and T stood for touring wagon.

similarly the 280E and 300E were enspritzen too, The only carburettor engine W124 was the 200.

The S in earler cars stood for "sonderklasse" which translates to special class - usually on the largest bodied sedans or on the most expensive coupes.

So the early 280SE stands for 2.8 litre enspritzen sonderklasse. If it were SEL - add "Lang" (long) for sedan or "leicht" (lightweight) for sports coupes.

I have never called a 200E simply 200, I have never referred to 190E as 190 or 280S as just 280, so the class thing has always been around for me.

ok you would call this thing a 200E - even if it has 200 written on its back??

The old petrol 123s also had these names - you will find that the taxi standard 123 is called a 200 - it doesnt become a 200E does it?

and the 190E you refer to is a predecessor to the current C class. the E stood for "fuel injection"

not to burst your bubble but you saying that classes existed way back is wrong.

this is one of the hardest things to explain to a MB newbie. specially since merc badges never made any logical sense (remember the 230.6 or the 450SEL 6.9?). trying to explain what a M102 carby W124 (or even W123) is called to someone who deosn't understand the designations is next to impossible,.. but great effort.
