I would like to get some advice regarding replacement of engine for a toyota vitz.
I own a 2000 model, registered 2006 toyota vitz, recently it started giving trouble and heating up after all other checks failed its head was opened up to find lots of damage to the head and it was causing pressure to build up and over heating. The advice is to get the head replaced.
I colleague of mine asked me to call up a person who owns a workshop here in lahore and also is an importer of spares as well. That person advised me that instead of getting the head replaced which will cost me around 10 - 12 k (including labor & other material) i should simply get the engine replaced (which will cost me around 18-20k ) when i said that i would also go through the hassle to get the registration docs modified the said that "THESE IMPORTED CARS DO NO HAVE ANY ENGINE NUMBER and you wont need any change in the docs" This is a surprise to me as i checked my car docs and it does state an Engine Number.
Can any member give an advice regarding this issue. Is it true about these cars having no engine number????
