if only mileage concerned then MT is a better option. The difference would be of 3 to 4 km/l.

3-4 kpl is an overrated statement I guess. I difference will be significant with in city but on highways Cruisetronic will outshine Manual (With Cruise Control Engaged) ..... Also, Cruisetronic comes with "ECO ZONE" and an "ECO LIGHT" which aids in driving efficiently. !

The option is not available in Manual Transmission

If it was me , Cruistronic is a better option as it is the feature which make it unique in its class ! otherwise .... It is a GLI with some add ons ....

    What do you think ?!

After you have engaged cruise control , you can maintain one rpm and speed if you want to ... pedal will not receive uneven force response as we do manually resulting in a better mileage !

I can't give a number coz I haven't driven any ! As I said if you want to drive economical in a Cruisetronic, you can !

The Eco zone is the instantaneous fuel injection rate and eco light is on when you are burning less fuel so you can adjust pedal accordingly !

i ve recently bought cruisetronic. cruise control is a luxury on its own on motorways even if there is no difference in milage. as per the toyotas own claims manual does 14.3km/l in fifth gear where as At in d mode does 14.8km/l. they ve not calculated manuls consumption in 6th gear and it can be calculated by any member using the manual transmission.
as per my own car experience with AT in city in D mode i get average of 11 to 12.5 km/L. on motorway with cruise control on its meter was showing 20 to 22 km/l with 4 passengers and speed set at 100kms/hr.
eco zone and eco light are gimmicks. when you press the paddle sensors senses its position and shows a black bar which will exit eco zone beyond a certain set point and eco light will turn off. you can say that you can see how much pressure you are putting on race paddle on you instrument cluster. any driver will be knowing that any way, and by looking at the rpm and speed meter you get a fair idea of how economically you are driving.
power lost in AT gear box is negligible and hardly makes a difference in milage especially so on highways.
cruise control makes a good contribution towards economy of fuel as despite my best efforts i could not get beyond 15 to 16 km/l on motor way but when i engaged cruise control current average quickly improved to 20 to 22 km/l.
please be aware that i am referring to milage as shown by cars ecu in instrument cluster. it shows average and current milage per liter. i dont know if this feature is available in manual or not. i also dont know how accurate it is but as per my calculations it is quite sensitive and accurate even if not 100%.

I use the both. There is hardly difference of less than a 1 KM per liter.
But Cruise control is really luxury.

4-speed AT featuring Flex lock-up control during deceleration
Flex lock-up control during deceleration expands the fuel cut range by activating the lock-up clutch until low vehicle speeds, helping to reduce fuel consumption.

I have both Altis, MT(5 speed) and AT CT . I can ASSURE you that MT has a better mileage I came to the conclusion after taking both of them from ISB to Abotabad and surrounding areas, AT had to make one stop for refueling. Where me and my driver noticed that while MT was low on fuel but still better than AT by a difference of at least quarter tank.

    Dear Mr. Mani
My opinion is AT, because: on highway, regarding fuel consumption, it would lead or match MT and when driving in city, becuase of rush, you alwyas need to get rid from shifting frequently. If you think AT will cost more in city then consider the cost of tension you will get from MT i.e. shifting frequently. Hope you get it.
