Default Suzuki Swift DLX 2012 - Known Problems & Solutions

    Assalam o Alaikum Dear Friends

InshAllah I am going to purchase the New Suzuki Swift 2012 DLX in next few days (actually not given any other option and kind of forced into buying it) so really need HELP from the people who have Direct and Indirect experience of New Swift.

Guys please share your info about the Known Problems that New Swift "got" / "will encounter" in its first few months and how can we resolve it in best possible manner. Also what parts shall I change to make this car perform better for next 2 to 3 years.

I am really not a technical guy and really don't want to be played or cheated by the car mechanics so I am here posting this text to seek the sincere and honest help and guidance of this forum members.

There is a Check Engine Light problem if u install CNG in it. As far as I know I sit in 3 swifts having CEL pop up as u switch it to CNG.

    @ Five

DLX is simply awesome. No issues at all. Go for it without any hesitation.I am a user since 2 years, done 55000 kms and faced not even a single issue. On CNG also no issue, check engine light issue is due to the installation of improper kit,Use Landi renzo kit for swift with Lambda control LC-01.

For review you can check this thread:

Here are few tips for your car:

1.Keep the air filter clean.Get it cleaned on every wash.
2.Check the air pressure regularly. Best is 33 in front,30 in rear, but it depends on the road.If roads you use are not good then 30 in all.
    3. Avoid fast acceleration.Accelerate slowly. Try to drive the car in the RPM range 1500-2500.Best economy top speed is 80-100.Try to drive in highest gear possible for a particular speed.
4.Use ZIC XQ oil. Change it after 7000 kms(first time change at 5000).
5.Change the plugs to Iridium IK20 or NGK IFR6J11.They give nice pick and improve fuel economy.
6.First time gear oil to be changed after 5000 Kms. For engine oil, i had changed after 1000, however it is upto you.Can change after 3000.
7.In the first 1500 kms(it is called running in period) drive slowly, not more than 100.Avoid hard braking. It will be good for engine life.
    8. Get the service done at 5000 from suzuki delaers and get their service entry in the warranty service booklet(check if your dealer has given you). This will be needed for proof of warranty and service in case of any issue.
    9. There is an AC air filter under the front glove box, get it cleaned on every 5000 Kms service(it can choke if not cleaned which reduces AC air into cabin).

Its a good car and if you can keep it on petrol and you will not face any issues
Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go.

Bought a swift DLX late last year. No major issues so far.

I do get a clucth noise after driving for extended periods of time and it goes away when i park for a couple of minutes. It is a lube job issue form what i have been told. Waiting for 5000 km free service to get it checked.

I get 500 KM on full tank. By full tank i mean i fill up as soon as the petrol light comes on. And its been like this since the day i got it (with 10%; i.e. 490-510). Done 2250KM so far (thus ~5 refills at the gas pump). The good bit is turning the AC on recently has not spoiled the fuel eff. greatly.

Hmmm.... What else? Nothing that comes to mind. It is a great car. Sometimes i wonder why Suzuki can't imitate the general parts quality across the line.

I can only compare it to City 2011. The City has more cabin space, boot space, the engine is definitely better (in terms of technology and a bit on fuel efficiency). The rear seats have A/C ducts for feet which is really cool. Apart from that their are aesthetic differences like plastic bits on Window rubbers etc.

The cabin of the two cars is similar -cheap and plastiky. Swift's dial cluster is better IMO, but this is a moot point. The city has KPL indicator in the trip meter. I also like the opening mechanism of Swift as comapred to the City (the ugly key hole on the boot is an eye sore on the city).

But the city lacks Alloys, fog lights, RFID security system, 2DIN/4 speaker stereo. All of these things will cost money and raise the price of city to >2.5lacs, the current difference in price.

Bought DX two weeks back drove around 500 KM change stock tyres/rim to
steel alloys with 195/60 R15 Yokohama aspec.
Drive on bumpy road improved a lot also braking and road grip improved.
    right now i m getting 10 km/ltr i hope it'll improve after 3000-4000 KM

    Only issues i found are

    1. Minor Sound after releasing clutch something like dry spring
    2. Minor tuck sound if i push hard pedal on low RPM on low gears

if any one encounter these issue please guide me

    Thanks

If the clutch sound comes and goes it probably requires lubrication. I would suggest tht u do get it checked all the same.

    1. in point no. 2, u said that (Best is 33 in front,30 in rear)thats not correct. the best one is 28 in front and 30 on rear if the car has disc brakes only in front wheels like in swift.

    2. in point no. 4 u suggested ZIC XQ engine oil. this oil is more preferable on highway driving not on city driving. instead of ZIC XQ, use ZIC A+ and change it after 5000kms.

As per recommendation for swift by suzuki, it is 33 in front, 30 in rear.

I found ZICXQ best for the car and that is what i suggested.

Guys My brand new swift RPM drops quickly when accelerate on 1st gear to 3000 RPM and when i take foot from pedal it comes to 600 RPM quickly.
Isn't it normal behavior, may be i shifted from AT to Manual after long time tht's y i feel little strange
Also i feel SWIFT being 1.3 LTR gears should be change between 2-3000 RPM.
Isn't fun to drive on low RPM
    Thanks
