    Default What about Toyota 2.0D?

Given my budget of 700k max and love for a bigger car, should I consider 2.0D from 1997-2000? Saloon or otherwise?

My preference was for Honda Civic 95 but I've not received a very good response from friends and also from these forums. I cannot afford coughing up 800k for XE or other variants. Have little interest in Cultus, Baleno or Margalla etc.

What is the average fuel consumption? What about repairs? I hope the repairs will be cheaper than Civic. Any help will be appreciated. I will be using it as a full-fledge family car.

Thanks for your reply. But it is still Honda hence the expensive parts and repair

I am looking for a family car that will be driven by a couple of people. That's why I am looking for Corollas that enjoy great reputation as workhorses as compared to City or Civic.

What is the average milage/liter of diesel? Also if you can explain a bit more on this "chota mota" kaam. Average expenditure/month. Thanks

But what about the mileage? Is it a good car for an average middle-class family?

So confused. Have not received positive response on Baleno or Civic 95. What about Sunny?

sunny is good but baleno is still cost effective in long run,

if i am a regular job doing person i will stick with the baleno as it has the effect of being light on the pocket in the long run. not as comfy as corolla or sunny but still it is a decent car adn it has higher torque then corolla or sunny.

Thanks. I've received poor response on Baleno though. Everything from poor pick to coil and spark plug issues, RPM drop, air-conditioning problems etc etc. I want to buy a car that gives me minimum headache and can last for at least two years.

I can spend 650k or maybe 700k at most. Corolla is not available and a 2005 Baleno with Isb registration is around the upper limit of my budget. Won't the Sunny be an affordable option? What you think?

well baleno can beat any 2.0d in city driving and its even better than 1.3 corolla or 1.5 honda. i dont know who is feeding you wrong info about poor pick and coil problem, i have ket it for 8 months and i abuse cars but it never failed me. cost wise it will not give you a dent in pocket at the time of resale.
i do not have hands on experience of sunny 1.4 but if you are going for 2.0d sunny then yes it is a solid car about prtrol i have no clue how it will behaive, cost wise it will give you a dent in pocket at teh time of resale.
but corolla 2.0d will defiitely give you 16 to 18 km/L and it is also undisputed champion, people are not fool to buy 2.0d even though diesel is expensive. and again this is the best option in the whole scenario.

baleno is a super thakelee.... apart from road grip n suspension nothing is to be praised.... its acceleration and consumption both suck.....
i bought one zero meter in 2002 or 2003 drove it 16000km and every tank last 300kms and seemed the petrol is nearly going to finished. it was JXL top of the range only petrol version. got it equipped with 205 tyres and rims were 14" company provided.

city 2000 onward would be a better purchase but its too hard with low road grip.
HAD one in automatic version and was awesome in comparison to baleno while the only thing was initial pick till 25-30km. Got it also 205 tyres, local it used to give 10 with a/c. and on long with a/c it was near to 15km/ltr or near to 15.
Engine became too smooth after 60000kms that literally it i used to think how great a manual one could be......
