Cool PASSO vs. SWIFT! Let the battle begin!

I am biased for Passo since I own one, and I think Toyota Passo is a much better car than the new Suzuki Swift - and has a much lower price also.

What you get in a Passo - all the features of swift with much better build quality, plus rear window washer/wiper, much more space, plus individually reclining back seats which fold completely flat to give a tremendous amount of boot space. Not to mention Auto trans also, and air bags!!!

So swift owners, IMO, you've been OWNED!

And your point about life COMES first.

Then just think about the Swift and Passo drivers in Karachi.
They fear more about being SHOT in the head rather then being saved by an AirBag (which you have no guarantee that it will deploy), Seatbelt (which hardly ANYONE wears) or the ABS brakes which may save them from an unexpected collision or any other safety measure.

And since AirBags are of SO much concern thats driving anywhere would be impossible, what about the other features being offered by both the cars?

Drive like a car should be driven on the road and you will be safe. Drive like a Hooligan on the road and no safety feature will protect you

    LOL.
So one should just never buy any Non-Airbag car because there is a FEAR of a Donkey in a PKDM (Only PKDM I repeat) hitting you. Wowzer

I find it HIGHLY illogical that the point of differentiation is just the fact about Airbags in the topic Passo vs. Swift, while the other features are being completely ignored.

If only airbags rock your world and according to you everthing and even life revolved around airbags then I'm sure you would settle for the JDM Alto 660c with airbags rather than a Civic 2010 (base trim w/o airbags), if you have the choice to get either for free.

I see you already gave up on the Airbags thing

As the comparison goes, I have a soft corner for Passo. I like that car but only for the price segment it comes in. If I have a budget of 0.9mil ill go for Passo and if I have around 1.3mil I would go for Swift. Simple for me

Oh so yes..just for your enlightenment, you should have done some homework before posting here because as usual you are not fully aware of the features of Swift.

    As per you claim...
Swift DOES have the following features which you mentioned above as 'extra features of PASSO'

    Rear seat Seat belts
    Steering Adjustment
    Folding seats

and apart from that, these are the ''extra features that Swift offers'' since you asked for it...

    - A 1.3 litre engine (MOST important factor) - though I still feel its illogical to compare Passo and Swift. Vitz and Swift are better IMO
    - BRAND NEW everything (also the MOST important factor)
    - Yokohoma/ Bridgestone tires (unlike the snow tires which come half busted) - also better profile
    - Alloy Rims (unlike steel wheel & most of the times w/o decent wheel caps)
    - Fog Lamps
    - Alpine Player/ Navi Unit (that works here) with 4 decent speakers in PROPER locations (unlike the front one being in the dash)- Better Speedometer Cluster w/ RPM (unlike the bike lookalike meter)

and if you still think that a JDM will last long and won't give any problem because they are ''JDM'' and almost virgin then you are delusional because a Brand new car is NOT really comparable to a used car, who's history you might not know about.

Civic vs. Corolla tak theek tha. but ab Swift vs. Passo .. Quite amusing.

Yawer bhai... I have tried long and hard to fight through this with reason and logic but no avail. I would say u also r wasting ur time just like me. also please tell them abt crumple zones...I m sure they are unaware of that

...airbag wale bhai and all other brethren, u go n buy a passo, its a great car..OK?

I will close this by a quote from one of our friends on PW,

i look for cars like i am looking for a life partner, i would rather go for a average looking virgin than a banged up hot girl ...

    hope this solves everything. PEACE.

I really don't get what you're point out here. Your so called Passo is not Technologically advanced in any way than the PKDM Swift. Comparing other cars is another story.

To end this Passo vs. Swift debate, I would just say it all upto these factors

    1. Affordability (which car suits ur range, i'll prefer that)
    2. Type of use (family vs. alone vs. inter-city vs. intra-city etc)
    3. Cost (Purchase + maintenance + fuel)
    4. Resale (though I don't agree to this but Pakistani's still dig this)
    5. Appearance and Features

A person buy whatever suits his convenience (factors).

Rest I still won't agree that Passo in any way is superior or even better than Swift.

Passo is a great car in the range of 8-9lacs and Swift is great car in the 13lac category (Vitz is not a bad option and again its Swift vs. Vitz then but NOT Swift vs. Passo)

I test drove both a passo and a swift. No comparison between the driving pleasure. The difference between 1.0 and 1.3 is huge. And i was shifting from a 1.6 Gti so passo seemed like a slow responding sheep to me. Interior quality was better than swift but it has the ugliest dashboard ever. So opted for a swift in the end. It lacks a few features as compared to a jdm but has seat belts and abs and thats good enough safety protection for me. And other features like headlight control etc are really small and dont really make a difference apart from small shahska.

    What tuk tuk?
I've never heard any tuk tuk's.

The only tuk tuk I ever heard was on a PKDM 2004 Santro, 150,000km driven and a JDM Toyota Allion, supposedly "50,000km" driven.

I pity people listening to some japanese chit every day when they start their car and turn it off- ' uchninawa ' bla bla.

I pity people who think that their cars have fully working airbags, once it crashes, woopsie, it doesn't.

I pity people who think that their cars are genuine, with no auction sheet. * Facepalm *.

i pity people hearing tuk tuk everytime they floor their jdms, then go through cat removal, o2 sensor, filters, spark plugs, fluid change, switching to hi octane, ecu reset by disconnecting battery, ecu scan and reset by dealerships but problem keeps showing up.

Really? Went to dealers to look at a Vitz, was promised 16km/l with AC in City driving and no need to do any work on the car itself, not to worry about the rust in the engine bay ( near the exhaust manifold ).

Oh- It was all genuine as well, I just had to wait ' 1 week ' for Auction sheet to arrive to ' Prove ' it.

JDM's drive like hot knife in butter- Smooth.

    NOT.

I am 100% for Sharabhi's rides and self- imports WITH Auction sheet that CAN be verified.

Even if it's R grade and the repair was done in Japan.
