    Default Swift or Charade?

I am going to buy one of these as a second car, for rough tough use, and even the car will be parked outside. We used to have a charade, I know thats a solid car but at the same price there are some khyber and swift availble in the market. Is swift 85-89 have different parts than khyber?

I want to know which one is better in terms of performance, road grip, durability, spare parts, maintenance?

I want the car should not be more than 1000cc
It should run on CNG as well.

Well i would reccomend that you get a japanese Alto Or Peino , especially probox . Even though these cars are a bit more expensive but they are really really more durable .

daihatsu charade G100 are excellent cars but are losing their stand because most of their parts are not available in Pakistan because most cars parts availability in Pakistan is dictated by "used parts scrap importers" not new parts importers.

The charade has become so old now that nearly all in the junkyards outside of Pakistan have been crushed, so its better to buy the old suzuki SA310 (Swift/Khyber) cars. Their parts are easily available and they are very simply built.

Your question of the first generation SA310 is correct, those cars had leaf springs (kamani) rear suspension, a very odd looking dashboard, some different body parts (trunk, front, fenders) and a very stupid A/C. The later 88-89 cars looked like Khybers but with deep sunken sealed beam headlamps which looked nice, the khyber was the same car with flush headlamps.

Yeah Charades are really tough, they don't catches rust very easy. But from the construction point of view Swift is japan assembled too! I wonder how swift is weaker than charade. I still remember swift SA310 is also marketed in north america and remained quite successful.

I have completely rebuilt several G100 charades in Karachi, parts like the rear suspension arms are not available, the stub axle bushings that are available are junk, no-one even had the original engine mountings or parts like small clips that are used to secure fuel/brake lines, OE driveaxles are not available, new OE brake calipers are not available, the ones that you get in shershah are not from G100 charade, Most G100 are now sitting on starlet struts in Pakistan and nearly all of them do not have their original A/C.

Its not just hard parts that are required to make a car work, a car also has a thing called a body and that also needs "ORIGINAL PARTS" - not made in Lalukhait, China parts.

both got pro's and cons, charades are monsters when it comes to modding etc.
swifts got relitively less potential as compared to charades.
for you........grab the one you get first at reasonable nick+reasonable price.

There is a difference in maintaining a car at bare bones level and keeping it tip top, bare bones level maintenance cars end up in samad bonded carpets, puffed seats, twist tape wirings, cut screw adaptations and a general nuisance.

But your choice of car upkeep maybe different than mine, hey - your money your car your choice.

btw if you inspect the wiring to the A/C amp under the blower - it would be disconnected along with the low/high pressure safety switch and also the high engine temperature switch. The original Denso vane type compressor that is the first item to be tossed out by our A/C mechanics.
