    Default 1998 corolla advice needed

    Salaam

As many members know I have a 1998 model corolla of which I also posted an ad for sale but later gave up that idea as i intend to use the car.

I have some questions in my mind.

The car currently has its own 2E 1.3 carby engine purely petrol driven. I am planning for a swap and go for some economical EFi engine suitable for CNG as my daily drive has been increased a lot than before, so I'm left with no other option than to CNG-ify it. I intend to swap the engine because i want a little bit of power as well as the 2E motor gets very underpowered on CNG.

Meanwhile, due to the current loadshedding and raised engine prices, I am thinking of using the 2E motor in a generator. Is it feasible to use this engine in a generator? How much load will it be able to take, as in, how many ACs and other appliances can it run simultaneously?

So valued members and experts, which engine shall I go for in the car which is decently powerful and suitable for CNG as well, and will the using of the original engine in generator be fruitful?

Kindly also tell the costs involved in the above scenarios.

These questions are in my mind since many days so brotherly advice needed from fellow PW members.

    Regards.

    HI
I HAVE SAME MODEL COROLLA AND I also swap with 4A-FE (1600 cc) engine, it is a mighty fast engine but very low mileage i.e. 10m/liter.
I will prefer that you should go for Corolla 1300 cc for petrol only as that engine gives 17-18 kilometer to a liter

well 4AFE or 7AFE will be good on CNG
modern VVTI aren't as good on CNG and the engines themselves will be really expensive

I have a 4AFE in my Corona with CNG and it gives decent performance but economy in City isnt as good but on long trip its really good recently the car did a round trip from KHI-ISL-KHI and it gave good mileage figures and mine is an A/T (electronic)
in a manual transmission it will give good mileage

Hmm Same model I own and I am getting good Petrol and CNG average on 1800CC 7AFE. BTW 7AFE is more economical than 4AFE (1600CC) and powerful due to its better low end torque.

If you main concern is economy on petrol get your self 4EFE engine with tublar intake 2nd gen. If you want good economy on CNG and good enough on petrol than go for 5AFE (1500CC)

Baki the more you think more confuse you will get. We had one 5AFE that I asked you to buy and now its sold at half the market price anyways good luck for your swap.

my engine does lol. its also a 2E and last time it gave me 34kms on 2 liters. i didnt have enough cng so instead of putting rs200 gas i thought y not check it on petrol. for rs200 i got 1.89liters. went 34kms on it.

to the OP. im in the same situation as u. i have same engine as u do and its very underpowered yet very economical on cng & petrol though petrol i dont really care about since im full time cng anyways.

im also looking to replace the 2E with something that will give me almost same economy as the 2E but be more powerful while maybe putting the 2E to generator use lol. i was looking at 1nzfe 1.5 or 2nzfe 1.3 but they r too expensive. so now im almost set to go for 4afe.

but looking at economy between 4afe/7afe, here comes vaqas1 claiming that 7afe 1.8 is more economical than 4afe 1.6. i dont know how that can be since its a bigger 'cc' engine. if that is true then why should i go for 4afe when 7afe will give me more milage since thats wat i want in the first place. shed some light anyone?
