hypermiling is a myth ... in long terms its more expensive ;p
people who use Highbeams.. once day would suffer too bigtime. People who drive slow on fast lanes, remember one day a vehicle carryin ur son, dad might get late to hospital coz people like u. underaged driving will land u in bigtime trouble one day or the other.. And the Blue indication light on ur speedometer denotes "High Beams"

    My experience:

    - Accelerate slowly
    - Shift to a higher gear if driving at constant speed. Depends on the car too. In our Cuore I shift to fourth at 40 km/h and to fifth at 60 km/h. But only if I'm not accelerating. Roughly the same for the City.
My height has stopped increasing, my width compensates for it.

    1) clean your trunk (the lighter the car is,the more fuel efficient)
2)clean air filter or change it after 1500 km
3)Tire Size Varies a lot the smaller the more fuel efferent also tire pressure check it every week
    4) Service the car after every long route (i mean very long route)

Air Filter should be clean not choked, clean it after 15 days by air pressure
Tyre side matters, Tyre size should be as it comes from factory
    slow acceleration
Don't go above 90-100 as it really effective for long drive (tested by myself)

1-engine must operate at optimal temperature. if engine is over heating or cold(due to direct fan maybe) forget economy.
2-fuel system and plugs etc should be in good shape and clean.
3-use most less viscosity oil possible within specifications
4-wheel bearings should be in good condition
5-spark at all cylinders should be powerful enough.

my experience with hypermiling is has been very bad.

I think it can cause an accident if a person goes to the very extreme....

    but here are some tips....

    1. less load on the car
    2. car inflated at 32 psi (cold inflation)
    3. air filters need to be clean
    4. use lower rpms, and always be on the highest gear possible....
    5. constant speed and maintain momentum of car always avoiding to brake

    extreme

    1. turning car into neutral gear...
    2. ditching spare tire
    3. switching of engine while driving....
