    Angry Gli 1.6

    Assalam o Allikum

    I have a 2010 GLI 1.6 auto and its only 13k driven. It's almost up for another oil change. My father has been getting it done from Toyota motors and they charge around 4000. I went to some of the other garages here in Islamabad and RWP and no one seems to have any clue of how to change the oil filter. They keep saying its way inside the engine and only toyota motors can do it.

    Is there anyone here with 1.6 GLI who has gotten their vehicles oil change from another garage (obv cheaper than toyota motors) ... Will appreciate it.

    Thanks

    I have Altis 1.8 and get the oil changed from 3S dealer;
    Original Oil Filter & Toyota oil; Total Rs 3050/-

    How come you are paying 4000/-?.

    Secondly I would recommend that you have the oil changed from 3S dealer as your car is still in warranty, and they keep the service record this will improve the re-sale value of your car.

    I have 1.6 GLi as well. but dont know the location of oil filter. Got synthetic oil last time, changed from my mechanic. Go to some proper mechanic, not the people who have collected 10 / 20 empty oil dabbas and sitting beside road.

    Not a big deal to replace the filter but its better to get oil chabged from 3s as your car is warranted

    Oil filter used in Altis 1.6 is something like this (or exactly like this). Its located at the underside of the engine.

    As Toyota motor oil is Rs. 550/lits, U have to buy 5 liters... one pack of four liters and one of one liter because 1.6 GLi needs 4.5 liters.....
    5x550 = 2750
    oil filter = 1100
    Labor = 50

    Total 3900

    Any 3s dealer will charge u 3900...

    I have altis 1.6, same engine as of GLI 1.6

    oil filter can be removed from under the car, but it is not like old oil filters it looks like it but you do not have to change the mettle part only the internal filter needs to be changed which is of 270 rs of guard, 300 rs of any other Malaysia kind like FA and toyota sells it for 1100 i think.

    if you are changing oil every 4 to 5K km then you can even use guard. but if you put grade 4 oil which last 10 to 15K km then use original toyota oil filter.

    Any person can remove oil filter by going under the car if the oil changer has that kind of facility, else you cannot remove it from the top.

    hmm may be its easier in lahore but down here in Pindi or ISB no ones even touching it. even if they do agree on some extent they simply say there are no guarantees if something goes wrong they are not responsible. So obviously cant experiment
