    Default Suggestions - Corolla Theft

    Aoa pals
I have been watching threads on pw regarding corolla theft. Also there is a video with the name of chakwal car thief on utube.
The modus operandi of the thieves is breaking the qtr glass of the rear door first to get access to the car's interior. So the qtr glass serves as linchpin in thr theft operation.

So any ideas how to reinforce that quater glass which can surprise the thief.

Pour in ur views regarding the above in particular and regarding other anti theft measures in general.

    Regards

I don't understand why they break the quarter glass. There are many other ways to get in the car too.
One can get a metal sheet fixed behind the glass after getting them black tinted. Moreover, you can even install the chon chon shock sensor on that window.

sir first thing they do is to remove battery terminals so that the usual chun chun system doesnt spk when they open the door. they open the hood by cutting the wire under the fender .

Its just a thing, if quarter glass is re-enforced then they will break some other glass or pick the lock. Only good solution is fitting of immobilizer. Rest i cant think of a way to save car from theft.

An internal sensor with a battery should do. Although, pretty hefty thing but I guess it would help. Even the lowest noise would scare the **** outta them!

The best ways I think of are

1- Buy an extra battery, bikes one, install it in a hidden place and make its connections with the security alarm. Secondly you can also attach horn with it which begins to sound when any one removes the battery terminals (break the circuit)

2- Corolla have child locks. Engage them so that door cant be opened from inside.

3- Replace the quarter glass with metal sheet or some thick glass. I saw such glass in Pak China Buisness Forum '12. It was 30k for a room window i think or was more.

4- Use steering lock or install a chor switch.

5- Remove one spark plug cable and take it with you. I do it whenever I go to my village in Mehran

I thot about child locks too but they can open the door from outside after breaking the qtr glass as child lock works from inside only. However if we configure it to work from outside also ie if child lock is engaged the door will not open from both inside and outside. is it doable?

yes that is something making the suggestion impractical as the child lock button will be out of reach then. Any other ideas.
The point is to surprise the thief when he tries to break the qtr glass which is their beaten track for getting access to the car's room.

About the extra bike's battery , will it be compatible to be charged by car's alternator?

I think its not needed to be charged as it is not used unless some one remove the battery terminals. You can check its levels and get it charged from the market after a month or so

Then how will you open the door yourself?
I got this idea that when the child lock is engage, if someone tries to open the door, the alarm will start to sound.

One idea is to install pressure sensor on the quarter glass

Well, i can only think of a cut-off circuit for the ECU powered by an auxiliary power source such as a small 12V DC Battery which can be triggered in event of any abnormality i.e. Breakage of Glass, Cutoff from Main battery etc.

However, the theif would eventually push the car away, in this case, a properly designed mechanical lock on the handbrake would do the trick ... Phr to apne sarr pe he utha k lejani hogi gari
