    Angry Mini Accident :(

AOA guys, hope you're all doing fine!
I wanted to share an incident with you guys, which happened on a fine morning of 27-3-13. It was early morning, my father was driving the car. We were going towards I-9 through Faizabad. The traffic signal in Faizabad was not working so the traffic was being controlled manually. As we got near the signal, the traffic warden suddenly raised his hands towards us. There was a van in front of us, he braked really hard. So did we, but late. The car's brakes were grinding to stop the car but... BAM! We hit the van in front of us. Now before I go any further, I would like to tell you all that my father's age is alot and he's a heart patient, so you all would understand the reaction delay to apply the brakes. My Dad and the other guy got out of the car and saw our displaced left headlight. My Dad was hell frustrated! We both took the cars aside and talked to the traffic warden who was not listening to a word we said. The actual reason we hit the car was because both the brake lights of the van were not working, but the traffic warden didn't care and talked to my father in a very very unacceptable manner. He should've at least listened to what we had to say and talk to us in a manner which would was acceptable according to my fathers age. Now the main reason I posted this thread is to ask, who's mistake is it. Our's or his? After we stopped we double checked his brake lights, and they didn't work. According to the traffic police guy, it was our fault. So what say?

Alhamdulillah there was no major damage, to the car or us.

I have attached the pictures of the damaged area of the car.

Bro both of you and van driver were on fault
His van lights were no working
And you should,t allow ur father to drive if u do so than accept the fact that you will face such small accidents because normally the reaction time of every person increase with age so its totally normal that your father reacted a bit late that,s why accident happen as there is no way van can brake better than civic
And about traffic warden if a car hit a car in the back they will always put the blame on the car in back
Drive safe and Take care of ur father
Can,t think of a better signature

-The rule of thumb says, Ghalti peeche walei ki hoti hai, one should maintain distance.

-Other then that, Our traffic is so good, I can expect the warden not to talk properly he would him self be extremly frustrated at handling the traffic him self.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Safe distance is the key. But ppl drive bumper to bumper. I daily driver on Islamabad Highway and try to keep safe distance but speeding cars get into the gap from left if I hit such a car from rear its drive will blame me. But I will not compensate any such idiot and ask for payment for damaging my ride by getting into my safe distance from the wrong side.

Be polite on the road. Always give way to others, particularly ambulances and pedestrians.

Totally correct, distance is the best prevention I guess!
Actually, that place is overcrowded 24/7, so yes he might've gone nuts cuz of that!

No doubt at all! Safe distance is the Mother of all prevention! Bumper to bumper traffic can be very dangerous, especially when those "wagon walay" are around. Very true, one must be careful from other idiot drivers too! Thanks!

i also learnt after an accident
in the end the car at the rear is blamed
though the driver infront of me was literally testing brakes on road without looking behind

imo though a car without brake lights should be rammed with a dumper
Life is short and very unpredictable just like a Quarter mile .....
