Question Confused About Which Car to Buy

    Salam to all pakwheelers!
Guys i am a middle class guy, young doctor by profession from karachi.
now after a long wait its time for me to buy my "FIRST ride" & my maximum range would be 1100k-1250k & i've planned to buy this through bank financing!

i've been searching several forums on pakwheels regarding different cars, both local & jdm, but now i am too much confused that i cant make a decision which one should i buy! having all the important facts in my mind i am still unable to get a way to final conclusion! so i need you people to help me!

i like toyota vitz & toyota passo(like the most) in jdm, on other hand, suzuki swift & suzuki cultus(like the least).
both jdm & local cars which i listed are in my budget (i think) but the facts i am thinking of:
    1. such big amount should for 50k-60k driven jdm car or zero meter local car?
    2. jdm car would be a headache for maintinence/spare parts but zero meter would'nt have any issues (what i believe)
    3. jdm cars are imported good build as compared to local one!
    4. if i buy a jdm i've to put on extra money on tuning, plugs, oils, filters, Tyre, etc but in case of local!
    5. after 5-6 years which one have good resale, a 10 years old jdm or 5 years old local!

so keeping all this in mind regarding, good built, better choice, less maintenance & most importantly good resale value what should i go for,
more specifically toyota passo or suzuki swift/cultus.

I hope all you guys would give me your expert & helpful opinions, i am waiting for your kind reply.
    thank you all in advance!

TBH i am double minded myself between Passo/Vitz and Swift

    - Vitz enjoys a better resale than Passo
    - I personally like Vitz shape better than Passo
    - BUT Passo with better package is cheaper than Vitz of a basic package (same year) e.g. A XF 09 Passo (XF is top of the line with sofa seats, keyless entry, sofa seats etc) Black is under 11 but if you try to find the same package car in Vitz same year same color it would be around 11.50-12
    - Vitz have CVT resulting in slightly better fuel economy
    - Vitz is more common than Passo thus relatively cheaper parts and more chota's who understand the car

    - Swift is ZERO METER

A friend of mine said a thing which made me LOL ... he said i look for cars like i am looking for a life partner, i would rather go for a average looking virgin than a banged up hot girl ...

@mfahadb001... Hahhaa redirected to your post from Passo/Boon discussion, I am facing the same situation 11-12.50 lakh ki range main either go for Vitz/Passo but seriously never gave a thought to Cultus/Swift!!

Well! since I am an investment banker I will eventually go for a MAZDA RX-8 [all that flashy stuff]...but for a guy with your profession I would advise a Swift would be much much better option!

    In addition, go for UBL Car Financing with variable rate {trust me I am an i-Banker }

    @baqai:

baqai bhai i really really liked ur last lines of ur reply!
truely said, a simple & exactly said on point!
you are right bhai, 0-meter is ZERO METER, is ki to baat he alag hoti hai.
all the things do matter alot, we are in such a busy life that there is no time for ourselves then how can we waste alot of time in search of jdm parts, they are available but its too tough to find genuine parts in reasonable prices, then comes on resale we dont know what would happen after 5 years? let suppose 10years old jdm passo, more than 120k driven, some replaced body parts! may have sound engine! would you pay 850k for it?

anyways i enjoyed ur comment! HaHaHa..

I m still in between my decision...see new swift although costing 1251000 control price will cost me around 1325-1350k after registration and insurance which exceeds from my budget, so my inclination is towards city.

PS. I still havent ticked off Swift from my options

    Now its simple maths...

If you go for 3 years (Fixed rate) its
    20.5% interest + 4% Insurance + Registrations/documentation around 30k
    = around 25%

If you go for 3 years (Floating rate) its
    9.94 (KIBOR on 23-Apr-2013) + 5.5% interest (bargain for it) + 4% insurance + Reg./Docs 30k
    = 21%-22%

but if you are looking for 5 years go for (Fixed) and if you want certainity of expenses go for (Fixed)

PS: Hope it clears although I found doctors not to be good at finance...trust me I have 4 of my siblings as doctor {2 docs married 2 other docs} & 've had a doc GFs (she was boring also or may be stressed all-time)
I call them financially-dumb people but then ofcourse they are my siblings & you're not

Lol..yahan to career debate start ho gai.....

Bhai log I have finally made up my mind and going for a B.N Swift DLX Inshallah...2010 City is an excellent choice and I would prefer it anyday over the Swift but it is a bit too risky spending over a mil for a used car..there are risks in how the car is kept, the documentation etc etc....so better to stay with a new car...mehanga roye ek baar sasta roye bar bar

It all depends on your risk appetite & how much you can afford...one of my relative bought a Used Land Cruiser for 13 million (1 crore 30 lakh) aur aap kahtay hain its too risky to spend over a mil. for a used car !!

Sir a few points to ponder here which might answer this irrelevant reply....

1- Only a fraction of population in Pak can afford a 13mill car.
2- Even out of that fraction, almost 0.05% of people will treat a 13mill land cruiser as a cheap grocery/daily errand car...

So it is very obvious that for 13mill, the risk is already reduced to a bare minimum. City is an everyday car which can be found as a chauffeur-abused car, driven on rentals, a company pool car and other factors u may think of so the risk factor is too high.
Whenever a bird shits on my car, I eat a plate of scrambled eggs on my front porch just to let them know what I'm capable of...

Interest rate is gonna go up soon so the floater mights set u off a few bips once ur loan is re priced.
