Brother local indus variants produced were XE, GL & Gli (from June 1995) from November 1992 to March 2002, Gli limited & SE limited was also sold from 2000 to 2002.

2.0D, 2.0D SE & 2.0D SE Limited were with the old tech diesels with 2.0L 2C engine from the 1970s.

XE & GL have the old carby 1.3L 2E engine with 65 horsepower and the only difference was of equipment like power windows and power side mirrors etc.

Gli & Se Limited were offered with 4AFE 1.6L efi engine and alloy rims with 105 horsepower and were also available with auto transmission and SE limited also had optional sunroof.

Imported JDM corolla mein mostly 1.3L 4EFE Efi engine hota hai with 100 horsepower aur us mein optional ABS aur driver side airbag bhi hota hai.

Imported E100 corolla ke log itne paise mangte hein jitne mein 2001 ki Prosmatec ya 2002 model ki Se Saloon mil jaye.

JDM comes with Auto Tranny and 5AFE 1.5L engine.

User experience say the JDM built is better and with better equipment and suspension.
In local ones 1.6 version is a very nice car.
Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go.

Thanks for the details reply. One more thing, What is the difference in the body / design for XE, GL and GLi. How we can differentiate these 3 without checking the engine capacity

    Very well explained by Bradpit.

As regards XE, GL and GLi,

XE was the base model without power windows, central locking or matching bumpers. Had 2E carburetor engine.

GL had all ov the above.

Both XE and GL were 1.3l.

GLi was top ov the line 1.6l with everything included.

He is right about the bumpers at least. Matching ones came at the very last stages, most probably for a year or two. But for the longer part ov nine years that that shape remained, XE's bumpers were black.

A/C....God knows which model he's talking about to have come without it because my sister's and a friend's, both XEs, both 1994, came with it.

False. There were two versions: XE and XE-G.

All Corollas had AC, except for the fact that XE had it without economy mode whereas XE-G had two buttons instead of one, don't know how it worked back then but one read "Eco" and one read 'AC'.

The one with black bumpers was XE, it had two spoke steering wheel and simple dashboard. XE-G was the one with colored bumpers, it had three spoke urethane steering wheel and wooden garnish around the AC vents on the dashboard.

Then came GL version which had additional stuff like central locking and power windows as standard, plus a better stereo system with four speakers and a tachometer inside the cluster.

GL was the same as 1.6 GLi except for driver side airbag, four spoke steering and 4AFE Efi under the hood.

2 more things which required clarification:

    1. Some models have crystal headlights while some don't have. Any explanation for this.

    2. Following 2 type of tails are available. What is the difference between the two and in which variants these two came:

You're mistaken brother. May be indus merged XE and XE-G later on since 2001 was the last production year of this car but still there was no such corolla in this shape without AC.
