For maintenance, repair costs manual all the way, life of transmission depends on how you use and maintain it. If you drive in city mostly and prefer your comfort over a few extra bucks of fuel costs then auto is a good option, if you want more control and less fuel consumption then go for manaual

there is no comparison between auto and pathetic manual gear driving , if you are not riding a corvet or mustang. there are options for kicking your auto off limits but still it's low then a manual tranny. the peace of driving is only in auto transmission. since i got a auto ride am now stick to it. you can't ride a manual car after riding auto for long time.

Ive been driving manual for the last 7 years and inside the city, it's extremely tiresome. Whenever I buy a new, it would be an Automatic one. I'm tired of pressing the clutch inside the city, since I dont drive much on motorways.

I have been driving a manual for 10 years..Got no problem with that..But an auto is targeted for comfort seeking individuals..The latest models have extremely smooth manual transmission and in that case they work flawlessly without any extra strain on the driver.
The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status, is that, deep down inside, we all believe that we are above-average drivers.

Also you cannot drive a M/T in Karachi.

Auto has more life and less maintenance (Not on CNG) if purchased new since you cannot abuse the clutches.

We kept a Prosmatec from 2001 May to 2012 December and driven 280,000 KM with no problem.

The clutches were changed at 180,000 KM & transmission filter cleaned at 100,000 KM & 200,000 KM respectively.

Brother unlike Se Saloon or Vitz auto the 1999 model civic onwards have to open the gearbox and remove the filter.

Honda Drive In people charged rupees 9000 in 2010 but it was definite improvement as the sound and performance of the car improved a lot.
