    Default Why HIDs?

Can someone please explain the logic behind the use of HIDs in car headlamps? What I infer is that they only blind other people. So, do they serve some practical purpose or are the just used for their bling-factor?

HID is being used by many manufacturers as an OEM product. It is being used due to its superior road coverage and brightness. however in Pakistan where everything is abused and brought down to such a level that even if it carries high benefits, it will become the culprit. Similar is the case with HIDs.

Properly, HIDs can be used in projectors at low beams so to give u maximum road coverage without blinding oncoming traffic. so conclusively HID is not the problem, its the people who use it.

You will find all the info. you need here:https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/new...please-dont-do

Anyways, there are different types of headlights, projector and halogen.
Projector is the more expensive and advanced than halogen.
People tend to use HID bulbs in halogen casings, which it is not meant to be used for and they top the cake by putting the HID bulbs in High beam too, and that doesn't focus the light on the road but scatters it everywhere, my eyes, your eyes and that random dogs eyes.

People aren't just educated enough which is the main problem. Police should do something too, and dealers shouldn't be allowed to sell without confirming that the person has the proper casing
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

Can you also explain under what circumstances should high beams (halogen ones, not HIDs) be used?

High beams can be used to signal the car ahead of u to give u way to pass. also u can use them to lit dark areas where u r unable to see whats ahead but keep in mind not to have any oncoming traffic under 200m of u or similarly any car ahead of u.

In Pakistan anyone who owns a car loves to drive to

    decorashan shop

the salesman over there will first sell "INTAKE - 50HP waala for Rs 10,000/-
next would be seat covers made from recycled garbage
next would be HID because it makes sure you have a bigger wallet than your freinds and all the girls in the neighborhood/school/college will be attracted as you are the best specimen of HUMAN MALE God ever created. (Just because you installed decorashan HID)

it doesnt help 1% for visibility, infact you lose visibility when used in halogen housings. instead of seeing far you see about 10ft ahead. I dont think that is useful by any stretch.

^ Rightly put.. always proper projectors should be used to maximize the benefits instead of ruining it.

I only met a handful of people in Pakistan who actually know its uses, a freind of mine owned such a dekorashan accessories shop and 98% of his customers were complete jackasses. All they wanted was to "impress others" no matter how stupid or idiotic their cars looked.

He also had a few customers who would have mini bus style metalwork on Hilux Vigos complete with the lady behind curtain stickers, valley paintings on the tailgate and silk curtains in the interior.

Some of these idiots also owned Range Rovers and would call the shop to "discreetly" ask how a function worked.

This is a proper use of HID in a HID projector. Notice no light goes above the cutoff, thus it does not blind oncoming traffic and gives the best visibility.

So why are we discussing the evil sinister crime of installing HID in regular lamp reflectors then?
