Sunny 2006, i engage 5th at 70 and at times within city even earlier. If engine has enough torque u can shift to top gear erlier to save fuel and an effortless drive around.
Keep a cool head and wear seatbelts!

Honda City Aspire 1.5 Prosmatec. It usually shifts to 5th gear at a speed of 80 km/h
Are you thinking what I'm thinking that I think that you're thinking I'm thinking because if you think that I think what I think I'm thinking then we've got a problem?

Generally speaking, the highest gear the engine can pull at a given speed without lugging down gives the best possible fuel economy.

If your car has an RPM meter than do the following:

    1. When you are driving normally and not pushing the car, shift every gear when you reach 3 RPM the next gear will start from 2+ RMP power.
    2. When you are driving with a bit of a power then it is better to shift the gear after 4+ RPM, the car will be in power all the way.
    3. When you are pushing the car, shift the gear before RPM needle reaches the RED area (In most cars that area start around 6 RPM)

when it comes to no RPM meter, 70 km/h for normal, 80 to 90 km/h for power, and when pushing you can change around 120+ km/h of speed.

    Hope I answered your question.

My friend, in auto trans it depends on how much pressure you have on the accelerator, it will shift to firth much earlier if you have low pressure on accelerator.

With your comment it seems like you drive with a heavy foot BTW when you have C180 it deserves to be driven like that

If you're shifting too early to save fuel and the engine permanently knocks because of that, its not a good barter.

Depends on gear ratios. With city driving at Lahore, rarely do I get a chance to shift into 5th gear on my swift.

    On diesel Corolla I shift @ 50~60 km/hr. On petrol cars normally @ 70 km/hr.
