Default Prius, Civic or Mercedes Benz? Suggestions please.

    Aoa,

Dear fellows my younger bro wants to replace his swift with a new car now. We have a budget of 16-18 lakhs max, we are thinking of buying any one of the following three cars:

    1. Toyota Prius T-Spirit or T4 (2007-2009)
    2. Honda Civic Vti Oriel Prosmatec (2008-2011)
    3. Mercedes Benz C-class (2001-2003)

What do you guys suggest? This car will be a daily runner. Economy is not an issue as he is using swift currently and we all know how good it is on petrol..:p My brother personally wants the mercedes, but clean ones are rare to find. Your input will be much appreciated. Waiting for your reply.

    Regards,
    Jahanzaib Munir.

In 22 you can get a clean new 1.8 allion class apart from civic and prius. And is a mid size sedan with reclining seats in the rear. In White it looks aggressive by default. Premio is v unclish in same price.

Go for civic eyes closed. I was in same situation couole of months back and I had to buy a car for my daily use. I had made up my mind to go for brand new city or a used good condition prius but in the end I opted for a clean 2009 Civic manual. I'm really really happy with my decision. Fuel economy is also bearable(does easily 11km/l with normal + light foot) and this car brings a smile on face when you easily overtake corollas and cities with only half accelerator pressed

About mercedes. I dont recommend it at all for a student. Spares are way too much costly and you will get a 10-11 years old merc in your range.

You don't have a budget of 22? You mentioned civic 13 which is 22 plus

Yes bhai the draw back on merc is basically its age. I am searching a civic, prius has been dropped as my brother doesn't like its shape, although I personally like prius but it has been taken out from the list..

Why not Accord 2.4 04-06 model? It's 2.4 L is powerful, but still I suggest the C Class (obviously the W203) but note it's hard to find a C Class at 1.6-1.8 mill. When it comes to luxury and engine. The C Class is the WINNER here from my side all because luxurious features like cruise control, dual a/c and the engine is obviously 1.8 L Supercharged which generates 141 hp and most importantly since it's manufactured and assembled in Germany it has even better built quality, not suggesting a PRIUS because most PRIUS here imported are mostly accidented with repairs done in Pakistan.

Sir thank you fr ur input. I had accord in my mind but again no car was neat enough, i hv checked out a few. Secondly there is no match for a merc but finding the right one is hard.

Then go for Civic. Look man, it's easy to find that car perfectly used here and has good parts availability and less maintenance costs and even a good resale as it's PKDM. Go for the 2012 model Civic (Don't get confused with the new-shape one).

btw, why not city? look man the bigger the engine, the badder the fuel economy would be. City's fuel economy is quite good and bit cheaper. And at this range, you can get a brand new city and brand new cars have better reliability then old and used cars. Especially if you're buying it for the student whom can't afford higher maintenance costs and would be forced to sell it.

Even I dream about buying a Mercedes too, but remember I would go for a small PKDM car rather then an old imported and used car.

well bro I have kept city back in 2011 bought it brand new then and we didnt like it so sold it within a year. Now again fuel economy isn't an issue so civic is an option. I guess civic is the winner here so far..:p
