BULL CRAP. My uncles altis 1.6 manual 15k on odo, gives only on petrol gives 9km/l with a moderate foot in city with ac. It is maintained by toyota 3s and the car is COMPLETELY stock and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
But still IMHO- corolla is a superior car than city in all aspects except for security. For security you can simply get it insured.
getting an average of 12 to 14 in rawalpindi city n 17+ on highway in my ALTIS manual 25k on ODO !!
ur uncle's car is definitely not OK !!

What about altis 1.6 auto without sun roof vs civic in same price range?

I think you can get vti oriel manual in altis auto price right? Does manual civic have cruise control btw?
Turbo lag is like foreplay. You know it's coming. And it's gonna be good.

Brother if you are a bachelor go for City if you have family or planning to buy the GLi.

while 17+ seems exaggerated, 12+ is possible, even my 1.6 auto does 11-12 in city 50% a/c and moderate acceleration, btw at what rpm he shifts cuz i have found that gas vehicles accelerate economically with 50% throttle and shifting at 2200 +- 300 rpm(driving like a diesel car, quite possible with low end torque on corolla).

Forget both and go for a basic civic vti. Much better than both cars.

Well, if you want a wide car, definately go for corolla and if you'll have to drive it on bumpy road, especially like those ones in villages, then that is one more reason to go for corolla and one more thing to keep in mind and that is that the corolla is much more comfortable than the city. If I were instead of you, I'll go for the corolla. Oh! and one more thing, you can trust me because I know everything about the corolla because my family has owned corollas for decades.
