Default Suggest engine for Toyota Cressida

    Assalam-O-alaikum!
I have just bought a 1992 Toyota Cressida Station Wagon with 22R engine %-speed manual. The diff. & clutch are in bad shape. Engine & carb seems to be 9/10.
My question is should i stick to this engine and get everything else repaired or go for a complete engine swap?

    Are u sure it is a 22R and not a 22RE?
Irrespective it's an excellent engine, durable, reliable, pretty decent on fuel, take off quite well with good low end torque.
The same engine also came in the Celica of the time, why are you considering changing the engine???

Brother its best to overhaul engine if u have a good mechanic.
If the engine is totally out of order & you are left with no choice only then u should swap
I have seen people running 7afe engine in this car with cng

I went to a mechanic & he said the clutch needs only service. So, he cleaned and put it back in. Two bearings in the diff. were bad. Now i have another problem, the carb has a bad coke (stuck in closed position) and the butterfly is in bad shape. The mechanic says it cannot be repaired and to change to some other carb. What should i do?

Overhaul the engine rather than swapping.
