Yeah if people don't care assuming immobilizer will rescue their cars of high tech chors, then its definitely a wrong practice.
But even then we can't justify its absence in local cars rendering it something useless. It is mandatory to equip vehicles with FF immobilizer abroad in many countries.

Yes it is only smooth on smooth roads which gets fun to accelerate 1.3L. And a FF immobilizer thats it.

I do agree that it is overpriced and the build quality is Crap, but after keeping almost 12 Jdm's , i can safely say Jdms are not suitable for our country, their build quality is good but their suspension & Engine cannot handle pakistani environment at all,( I can prove this) .
Worst issue is parts, currently own a mira es and two days back the front small plastic piece infront of the side mirror fell somewhere , asked a dealer to arrange it and he quoted 3200 for a small piece .
    Jdm's No... No...No...
On the other hand going for a used swift is better as a 10-11 model costs around 1 million and has all the goodies, The engine can easily handle pakistani invironment, the suspension is designed to bear pakistani khadday

I have seen such a gang in Karachi - no matter if your car had an immobiliser with two way authentication with rolling codes over a BUS network, your car would be gone in 10 minutes flat - they would show up with a truck, lift the car onto it, stick their magnetic number plates over your old ones and go.

The funny part about this thread is that - all people want an immobiliser and all the goodies - then when you read other threads people are asking for little thiyaa type shops that can get them cloned keys for their beloved immobiliser cars - When instructed to contact the showroom they go - bhai woh bohot mehenga kaam hai"

There is no harm if people search and research for cheap and affordable ways for finding solutions...If everyone should go to 3S dealer for everything then the whole concept of Pakwheels Forums is no longer needed. ... I myself got transponder key made from Waris Road Lahore for 3.2K and its working like charm....they have keys that look exactly like origional for almost every car...even the most expert won't be able to tell the difference thet whether the key is origional or cloned...Suzuki Ali Jaan Motors asked for 8.5K plus the cost of paperwork for the same job....Hence i saved almost 6K...
After few months i went to Montegomery Road Lahore....there i found a person who was willing to do the same job for 2K and he also had the exact same key...

keys are something that is a security aspect of the car, In old cars the key was metal and just slid some levers to release the cylinder to twist, The owner could do anything they wanted.

The new keys are a bit more involved and may cause great grief, That is why I always tell people of two options if they want to get such a key.

    1 - dealership
2 - licensed and authorised key-maker (these are non existant in Pakistan).

These newer keys can be duplicated and need to be tracked for legal reasons. Hence the authorised key maker part, just like if you take your bank locker key to a locksmith he will probably refuse to make it for you because of the giant danda that he will have to face later on if anything goes haywire.

Sure you can get a key for less than Rs 500/- for a baleno (I know where to get it - but I never did that for anyone - there are too many legalities with that - and I dont want to deal with stories of stolen cars after I made the key.

Hence - two paramount importance items goes to legality in owning a car - thats why you dont compromise on brakes, you hit a person - you get into legal trouble, similarly - the other is ownership - which also includes the KEY.

My point was completely different to what you have replied....
Anyways i was not talking about whether it is illegel or legel to make cloned keys...my point is you can get them so easily made from anywhere, so the paperwork that 3S dealer was talking about absolutely holds no value...and hence the whole point of going to 3S dealer becomes zero in Pakistan...

If a transponder key is so cheap and easy to make, how would u consider it safe?

Honestly speaking after seeing the whole process of making the key....i really dont consider it safe anymore...still better than after market security systems....but not at all safe....that is why i bought crook lock straight away for both my cars after getting the key made....

I know the whole bunch that calls themselves the "importer" of such keys - they are not importers by any measure, they just stack a bunch of keys in a box and have it shipped khaipya style.

The blank key for a baleno costs about USD 7 for a blank (good quality) - (2nd class quality is USD 3) (bad quality is USD 1)

I dont trust keys to be cheap and good at the same time.
