Default Car Dilemma, which one shall I buy?

    Dear All,

I am planning to buy a car and will highly appreciate your input to help me make the right decision. My budget is around 1.6 M to 1.85 M rupees. Have already shortlisted a few:

    1) Brand New Honda Aspire 1.5 AT 2014
    2) Brand New Toyota GLI 1.6 AT limited edition 2014
    3) Toyota Altis 1.6 or 1.8 AT 2011/2012 with less than 40,000 kms
    4) Toyota Prius 2011 EX with less than 40,000 kms

Can you please share you comments considering parameters like MILEAGE, LUXURY, MAINTENANCE COST, OVERALL VALUE FOR MONEY. People who have either driven or own these cars would probably be able to suggest better. Apart from Toyota GLI 2014 which is really fresh in the market.

    Looking forward to your thoughts,

    Best Regards,

Bro, frankly speaking stay away from used car. Go for new City Aspire or New shape GLI.

Better go for PKDM likes of City or Corolla. Atleast no parts and maintainance issue.

If you need a car for yourself then go for City

If you need a car for your family then go for the new Corolla. Remember If you need to buy the car right away then you'll get the 1.3L GLI which is underpowered.

Stay far away from JDM's If you care about maintenance cost.

Just keep one thing in mind that Corolla has high theft ratio!

Mileage: Prius>aspire>corolla (though some say that aspire sometimes is worse than corolla even being 5 speed vs 4)
    Luxury: Prius>Corolla>Aspire
    Maintenance Cost: Corolla>Aspire>Prius
Overall Value for money: Prius(a good one)>Aspire>Corolla.

and gli 2014 is fresh in market but its engine+tranny combo is same as before.

Axio is the car for you. No prius for longterm keeping.

About the mileage factor, the person ends up paying 1.5-2 lacs on the battery of Hybrids which overcomes the ENTIRE FUEL SAVING of the initial stage. However, its a good car for those tending to keep it for short period of time, 1-2 years.

In your budget, go for new corolla GLi, auto or manual that's up to you.
Buying a used car is always a gamble, plus a brand new car means no visits to mechanics for a long time if car is maintained properly.
If you extend your budget to 2 million, you can buy a 2011 Prius 2nd Gen but do not buy it from a dealer. Get it imported yourself or buy a vehicle with original auction sheet after getting it verified.

Battery issues are springing up in the JENIYAN cars available at showrooms. If you buy a non-accidental graded vehicle no battery issue for at least 200-300,000 kilometres.

    Dear All,

First of all thank you so much for taking some time out and sharing your valueable thoughts and suggestions. What I can observe is variety in preferences from people vouching for local while some banking on imported cars. Right now I have a Belta 1300 Cc so I do have an experience with Japanese made vehicles. Drive is usually better than local upto +5 years in my opinion but if there is any trouble with the car then it takes a while for mechanics here to diagnose correct problem.

What i determine from various responses, no one suggested Corolla Altis of 2012. I am reluctant to go for the new one for the very reason that it gets stolen every now and then. Have been trying to search for Prius 2011 (1500 Cc) but they are just too limited at auctions now. 1800cc would be out of budget. So may be City aspire is a decent choice then. Does anyone know if there is a waiting time to get the new one, how long is it?

    Best Regards,
