    Default Mitsubishi Lancer 07-08-09

I am planning to purchase Mitsubishi Lancer 07/08/09 model. I have had positive feedback about the car but the car has also attracted some negative comments mostly related to resale. I am looking for a family car and have no reason to sell it in near future. Kindly advise should I go for Lancer?

Bro, frankly speaking don't go for it. The reason is you'll not find a good car. And it's maintenance and parts are very expansive. I'm not saying that this is not a good car. It's definitely a better car than corolla of that model. But rula day gi aapko since you are buying a used one. Toh used mein risk hai bhai.

Rightly said. Parts are very expensive and are available from very few part shops. I had an Ignition coil issue in my lancer which is very common in lancer and it costed me 17k for a set of coils.

the ignition coil issue is not at all common....yes if you go for service and spray the engine with water then you will have issues. Have had lancer since 2006...run almost 130000kms and no issues at all.

body parts are expensive such as headlights etc.....maintenance parts are similar to honda. Suspension parts are also similar.

if you have the budget go for the recently imported lancers and not a dewan one.

Main difference is that they are locally used for almost 10 years.

    Default Mitsubishi Lancer 07-08-09

Only and only if you find a Lancer in top notch condition go for that otherwise our people have badly abused this nice car, ruined its engine by SEE-ANN-JEE and ruined it overall by using JENIYAN parts.
I have a Lancer end 2006 model bought zero meter by us till date it has clocked almost 76,000 km and Alhamdulillah car has been very loyal.
The only major things changed are brakes and clutch set that too because of some stupid drivers we had.

I have not seen the car as yet due to the situation in lahore, I have verified from the owner its registered in 2009 but it is 2008 model. It was bought zero meter and does not have CNG installed.

There is nothing wrong with the car but like every care it too require routine maintenance.

So what's the problem you may ask? Let me list a few
    - The first problem is that parts are not so readily available (except in big cities) and are rather expensive. All other problems are a direct outcome of this one.
    - Firstly, since the parts are costly, chances are the previous owner did not replace things when they were due. He either waited until they broke, or he/she will pass on that to you. Therefore, finding a good maintained car is difficult due to costly parts.
    - Secondly, due to its age, it will require some repair and replacement. Are you willing to buy expensive original parts for it? or are you going to cut corners and make-do with temporary cheaper solutions? Any badly maintained car is going to give you trouble irrespective of make or country of manufacture.
    - Thirdly, when things go down due to poor maintenance, they require major overhauling and as someone mentioned before, its gonna make you cry.

My colleague used to have on at office and my cousin still has one. Their unanimous feedback...its a good car but very heavy on the pocket. My colleague has sold his since 2012 and my cousin are looking to change theirs soon.
