CVT in 1.0 litre vitz is a nightmare in my opinion. You never feel any push from the engine. Always feels under powered.

Rest Vitz is a great car but the transmission kills it in 1.0 litre.
The flex plate breaks due to fatigue failure and the torque converter can also get damaged in the process as its turbine can bounce around.

Hence - rule of thumb - always replace the mounting bolts of the flex plate and torque converter with "brand new" items

    - None so far (got the CVT oil replaced as per schedule)
    - Not really, have traveled a couple of times to Lahore/Faisalabad however if you count salt range as 'hilly'

It has done 20k km with me so far.

Can't find my pics posted over here @ Pakwheels, here's another link

Recommended OEM oil is "Toyota CVT-TC" and get it changed from a toyota 3S dealership. IMC would have arranged workshops for mechanics before the launch of new corolla so they would/should know the proper way to change the oil and I also posted a link here in one of my previous posts on how to properly change oil so you can supervise yourself as well and make sure proper procedure is followed.

My brother has an axio for the last three years never faced any gear problem, gear problems are common with cars that have been used on cng. The only annoying problem is the steering box that has been replaced, have driven it formore than 100k kilometers with a couple of trips to naran/kaghan

One more thing I have driven the axio for a couple of months and I used to red line it oh so often in fact I would always shift semi manually (don't know what's it called when you pick up in l then shift to d2 then d) in city just for fun ...never faced any problem....almost all (make that ALL) cvt failure I have seen are due to current or previous cng usage .... cvt tranny used to cost 100k a couple of years ago now they cost around 65k (in shoba) as you have to change it completely once it blows, repairs by local mechanics is a futile effort.

Default change the cvt oil properly

The problem in axio cvt occurs when u don't
change the oil properly when changing the cvt oil u have to convert ur car in temperature deduction mode then u can check the oil level properly if u don't convert ur car in temperature deduction mode it takes about 3 litre of cvt oil but after converting it takes another 3/4 litre of oil.local mechanics don't know about this so end up ruining the cvt gear box .

its the usual story as always, people want to buy a technology basket car but do not want it to ever break down - or if it does break down they should be able to repair it with UHU glue and scotch tape.

with zero maintenance record a 12000 km used HONDA 70 bike will also fail if immediate maintenance is not taken care off ., let alone we worried about Axio / Lucida / Esse / Kei / Premio / Lamborghini / Ferrari

JDM vehicles are Orphans 98% vehicle are without any auction sheets. For such single reason since JDM started arriving and members buying those every reasonable person is suggesting Immediate fluid & filter changes.

myth of axio / premio WEAK CVT is another scam like 'agha water' & EC1 guys from Pindi

let alone adventurist like our respectable member Doc.Tarzan are plenty across the country

there are tons and tons of cars here in the USA with CVT boxes, independant rebuilders have started to come around repairing them on some level but still dont warrant them for long time use as the drive logic in the TCU can completely change the life span of it.

e.g. older nissan altima (first time cvt altima) had very aggressive friction properties - the car would launch and accelerate hard - it would also cause a low rpm judder as the torque converter locked, people didnt like it - Nissan then came up with a reflash to "soften" the car - this softening was basically programming slightly more slip in the gearbox (result you lose some economy and acceleration but the car is easier to drive =====> the excess slip is also now overheating the CVTF)

I have 4 cars, 3 have shifty autos and 1 has CVT, the CVT car was bought brand new and I have took it back to the dealer 4 times in 14000 miles to "fix" the stupid transmission behaviour. OTOH my 14 yr old mercedes with the 5 spd automatic has no issues - I can redline the engine, cruise like a naani amma, tow stuff with it and it doesnt display odd behaviour. The chevy and toyota units are both great too, no problems even in hot tx weather

redline the CVT for a day and I would need to probably take it back to the dealer because it starts to do funky stuff. Every 3 out of 10 cars in the service bays are in for transmission stupidities.

the really cool stuff (for me at least - Im a sort of geek) are the new 8 and 9 speed gearboxes that are made by ZF.

there are tons and tons of cars here in the USA with CVT boxes, independant rebuilders have started to come around repairing them on some level but still dont warrant them for long time use as the drive logic in the TCU can completely change the life span of it.

e.g. older nissan altima (first time cvt altima) had very aggressive friction properties - the car would launch and accelerate hard - it would also cause a low rpm judder as the torque converter locked, people didnt like it - Nissan then came up with a reflash to "soften" the car - this softening was basically programming slightly more slip in the gearbox (result you lose some economy and acceleration but the car is easier to drive =====> the excess slip is also now overheating the CVTF)

CVT's Are More Prone To Gone Bonkers Once CVTF Gone HOT......! Bad.......Very Bad.....I Am WOndering What Will Happening When These Small MINI Dabbay Sold Here nowadays As "RECANDETUN " for like 8-9 Lac have Tiny MINY CVT's......! what will happen of them once they mess up.......Kabaria Or What.....They Are Quiet Small....With Tiny MINY Engine And Tranny....Feel Sorry For Those CUte Cars when our people abuse them quiet bad
