Both are white elephants in Pakistan. The S class has airmatic suspension, which, if gone bad will make you crazy.

BMW on the other hand has low parts availability and is hell expensive to maintain than a Merc.

If I were you, I would go for the S class.

Fuel is same. Parts availability is better and options of maintenance are better than a BMW. Comfort wise, both have the same lush suspension. resale is better too

Merc all the way. If BM would have been of newer model I'd have suggested that to you. Buying these white elephants is a great matter of hard earned.

Yeah I know brothers both r expensive the main problem is spare parts in islamabad of which car spare parts are easily available. I personally like BMW its the beauty but the main thing is spare parts availability. Let you know both of the cars are in perfectly good condition but as the seller told me there is no problem of spare parts but I want to get help by professional who know these cars v well. Thanks.

hmmm bmw is pretty awesome.. however if u wanna buy, then order a diagnostic system on internet too.. that will literally save u millions.. since a periodic maintenance can be billed upto half a million by Dewans... while Merc is good.. u can get spares easily however there r many things that even Shahnawaz screwsup too..
people who use Highbeams.. once day would suffer too bigtime. People who drive slow on fast lanes, remember one day a vehicle carryin ur son, dad might get late to hospital coz people like u. underaged driving will land u in bigtime trouble one day or the other.. And the Blue indication light on ur speedometer denotes "High Beams"

Default 2004 BMW 730DI or Mercedes Benz S320 CDI?

Me and my father are in the same discussion! 2004 Mercedes S320 CDI or a 2004 BMW 730Di. Both of them are diesel. If anyone of you can help me then I would greatly appreciate it. As everyone as heard not confirmed, Dewan and Shahnawaz gives maintenance costs in the millions (giving it in hundred thousands is the same). Petrol BMWs and Mercedes Benzs consume fuel like really hungry monsters! but what about diesel ones? What happens if someone scratches your car, I mean what is the paint cost in general from the showroom? I have a lot of questions, I know Pakwheelers have lots of information on this topic so please help! My questions are as follows:

    1. Which of the two is less costly to maintain, keep, repair etc?
    2. Which of the two consumes less fuel than the other? They are diesel so they should be fuel efficient not fuel enemies!
    3. Which has more resale value than the other?
    4. Which is overall better than the other?
    5. Are maintenance costs in the millions or are less like in the thousands, not in the hundred thousands!
    6. Both are great but which one has the upper hand?
    7. What is the cost of the following.....
    Air filter.
    Oil filter.
    Oil change.
    Brake Pad replacement (all four).
If there is anything else that I left out that has to be replaced during the periodic maintenance schedule then please do tell! Again, they are diesel!
Again, I would greatly appreciate your valuable feedback and response.
    Thank You!

You can easily find all the info about your queries here on pw.
The only thing i want to metion is that a diesel supercharged engine, like these germans have, a big disaster in Pakistan. You cant find good diesel anywhere in Pakistan. If someone claims that he sells or buy clean diesel from sulphur lead etc. I want to meet him.
So no option for a diesel. If you ever bought such thing. You will remember my words for ever.

I even saw many vehicle under 100k km garaged for engine overhauls. Injectors etc problems. A high pressure common rail engine maintenance in Pakistan is also a problem. No one is that professional to maintain.

A good german diesel powered vehicle will last about 1000k km but abroad where they get clean diesel. In Pak they hardly last for 100k km.

I personally driven 520d, it feels like a 4000cc vehicle but not wise to buy here.
