Default Which freshly imported car to get for 1.5M (prolly Honda Fit Hybrid Shuttle)

    اسلام علیکم
    Dear Pakwheelers,
I need to replace my Toyota Vitz with something with a bit more cargo space as my family is growing. I want to go for a JDM vehicle again and my budget is 1.5M which can be stretched to 1.7M if I get something really really interesting. Probably the only cars that fulfill this criteria are Toyota belta and Honda Fit Shuttle (that's the state-car version of Honda Fit).

I have driven Vitz for for almost 7 years and it's still going strong and never misses a beat. I am very satisfied for it's comfort and reliability. But (with a heavy heart) now it's time to move on.

    * I want a freshly imported car which is not touched by our local Ustads (some call them road-side monkeys).
    * Hybrid technology is definitely a plus, but it's not a must, as my monthly mileage is quite low (~500km per month). But they are probably better value due to less import duty and stuff
    * Resale is also not a huge factor for me as I plan to keep the car at least for the next few years, and I am buying the car for usability, not as a business investment.
    * Safety and reliability is important for me so I would like to have all the features like ABS, EBD, airbags, TC etc.
    * Looks, bas qabool-soorat toe honi chahiay

    So, please share your thoughts.
    Thanks.

    Okay guys,
I am finalizing a deal to buy a 2011 Honda Fit Hybrid Shuttle, the car is really good in terms of body, interior, features, engine and everything but the owner told me that he uses Kixx 20w50 oil on this car, however the User manual probably recommend 0w30 for all weathers. I was just curious that would 20w50 oil would have done any damage to the engine, the current owner has drive probably driven this car 10,000 km in Pakistan since August 2014.

One of the reason sellers use heavier oils in their cars is to muffle engine noises of weaker engines, but I guess this is not the case here, that person just didn't know which oil to use.

    Thanks in advance.

Bro, buy the car you want to drive. I mean dont go fr **** like resale and all. I read the thread and it seems to me that u r in lobe with the Fit Shuttle. I say go for it

But the one mentioned above has put me in doubt. The guy used a high viscosity grade oil for a lenghty period of time. When you shift to a lower viscosity oil, the engine will misbehave. Its a big investment, so dont take that chance.

In saying that, i think you should still go for your desired car ! Best of Luck !

Thanks Khalid for the encouraging remarks. I have actually bought that same fit shuttle. Actually it's wasn't purely love affair thing, although the car has a lot to love. It was the car that suited my requirements and budget the best.

And as far as high viscosity oil is concerned, the real harm it can do is when the mercury drops significantly below the freezing point. And the oil gets to viscous to lubricate this Atkinson engine with very tight tolerances. For our climate i guess it haven't done much harm. The engine is buttery smooth Alhamdolillah and the performance is also good.

    Congratulations brother !!

Hope this ride serves you well for the years to come

A few questions i would like to ask for my knowledge..
How is Fit's Hybrid system different from a Prius'?
What mileage are you getting ?
Are you using the same viscosity oil?
I guess the company recommends 0w30 ? Let us know how it does on cold starts, as winters are approaching..

    and All the best !

    thanks bro,

Fit is basically a mild hybrid, it has a smaller electric motor so it cannot accelerate or start from stop on electric motor alone. the electric motor work in tandom with the internal combustion engine to keep it in optimum efficiency range. so in regular day to day driving the rpm hardly ever go beyond 2k mark, and that's how it achieves good fuel efficiency.

about the oil, I changed it to 5w-40 right after buying the car, and yes, the recommended is 0w, I will go for it in the next oil change.

and it always start the moment you turn the key, it doesn't crank like a regular petrol engine, you just turn the key, and it just starts revving.
